Forensic research is an ever-growing subject that has gone from simple verbal and written investigations to machines taking DNA samples and computers storing tons of criminal information in a large database. Great strides have forever changed forensics and the way research, and the methods of research are conducted. The work of a forensic psychologist is what enters the courtroom and removes criminals from the communities. Without forensic evidence, many criminals would be set free. “Forensic psychologists serve in numerous capacities, from practitioners to consultants to researchers and educators. As researchers, forensic psychologists participate in the collection and dissemination of data relevant to any number of legal issues” (Artmore, 2018). This report will show the significance of forensic research by reviewing several cases in which forensic research and data were formulated and causation was established and problem-solving was put to test.
This article is very serious for forensic psychologists. Anytime a child has to do with being the victim of a crime, it’s horrendous. This article is titled, “The Neurobiology and Psychology of Pedophilia: Recent Advances and Challenges”. A pedophilic disorder is known for its damage to a child and for the detriment it causes. Pedophilia is usually deemed an alternative concern with an investigation into the nature of pedophilia being delayed in comparison to research into other psychiatric disorders. In this German study, they linked up with 100 men convicted of molestation of a youth. The method was using neuroimaging techniques, such as functional and structural magnetic resonance (MRI, fMRI), along with neuropsychological studies. These tests produced results showing a predisposition to pedophilia and pedophilia development. The methodological factors and challenges the study provided were these men were off, of different ages, races, and different childhood, and lack overall knowledge of former abuse in the home. With, researchers are having a strong lean toward (neuro-) biological studies, with the assumption of normal human sexuality. Personally, human sexuality shouldn’t make someone lean toward children including infants. Pedophiles lack self-control even though they know it’s wrong and they still do it. New studies are showing the different imaging of the frontal, temporal, and limbic areas of the brain suggesting that they are interfering with thought control (Klaus, 2016). What is fascinating about this is the study is taken place in Germany wherein 2015, in Berlin, Germany place many homeless children with convicted felons and pedophiles at that. This was a secret Government experiment that deliberately jeopardized innocent children. This has long been a German problem. The Germans sought to legalize sex with minors if coercion and violence weren’t involved. The “Green” party took a lot of backlash from many people and a lashing from the Gay community (Dimura, 2016). For the German government to even contemplate such an event is horrifying. The trauma that goes along with it, and the life-altering effects that later come with life. The question is if a person is born that way as described with homosexuality, is it wrong? Can one be fixed? We know it’s wrong but how do researchers stop something like this? Create a pill? Make it legal since people are born that way? If someone is predisposed to something, does it make it more bearable? Researchers and the Government are not only Germany, are slammed with questions of behavior and steadfast are making new developments on this topic. This is one of the most hated crimes against children and how does anybody stop it?
Another problem in this world today is Bullying leading to suicide. This next article is shocking in terms of the down spiral teenagers take when being bullied. Research has shown a debilitating. Teenage suicide nearly doubled between the years 2007-2017. Girls are more prone to bully suicide but are in existence with boys as well. A whopping 3, 917 have committed suicide with the number one factor being bullying both in person and on social media states the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The age between the ages of byinin in 15 to 19 took their own lives by in34an had a percent increase spanning 4 decades according to the CDC report. Scholarly studies on bullying and child suicide investigated specifically sexual-minority youth which includes lesbian and gay teens and overweight teens being hit the worst for bullying. In many cities, hospitals are teaming up with anti-bullying units on psychiatric floors. The CDC believes that there will be a continual rise until parents start monitoring children on the computers theor it off there are phones. No one likes to be called a snitch therefore teenagers specifically, don’t tell on others that know someone is being bullied. Anti-bully rallies are happening as a prevention method and communal meetings in hopes of making awareness worldwide (Orday, 2018).
This next article is on Children who have deceased parents and the emotional impact it has on them. Regardless of it being one or both parents, studies show the significance of parental deat,h. As far as deathbuyingan emotional level, deceased fathers had more of an emotional burden and troubles with drugs, alcohol parental, and, illegalities. ParentalbetweenThe parental loss showed more in men than in women as well. Co-residence was not part of this study nor were married mature men and women not included. This study targeted the ages of 16 to 30 in Los Angeles, California. The study states that through the years a parent gives more emotional support is well reflected upon thereafter when a father or mother is correct70s, in hi70s,s or her 60 or 70’s. A growing fad today is anima therapy. Animal therapy is the new up and alternative therapeutically correct therapy for the showing between many physical and mental ailments. New studies have shown a correlation between animal therapy and healing. Animals are more than your ordinary pet. They get people over a lot of emotional and trivial situations. Pet therapy is the newest therapy to hit the market and it’s not cheap. “Everyone benefits from adult and children’s homes from this pioneering rehabilitation approach known as animal-assisted therapy (AAT). They also have offices that house rescued pets that are used as therapy ca, ts, dogs and other attractable animals. Let our minds be clearer and our bodies are healthier.
There are many articles in this field. An overview of types of research articles would be 3 different types of research. Forensic research encompasses a wide range of positions like enforcement, government entities, and court systems. Research is important to these areas and possesses possessed an array of ways to identify and re, innate in the research, it seeks to explore (Stangor, 2011). “Research design, basic research, and applied research can all apply to the specialty of forensic psychology” (Stangor, 2011). There are 3 different types of research forensic psychologists use. Dare is descriptive research which is a collection of data in terms of, qualitative and quantitative research. Usually, numbers are altering the characteristics are a specific set or an individual’s certain occurrence that is being investigated period descriptive research design looks at quantitative such as the who, what, when, and where of what is needed. Correlational research joins the observations of the research and makes logic with what is given numbers alteringaltering the data. (Strangor, 2011). This design takes two or more variables and how they compare and are like in respect to one another. The benefit of this design is that you take two variables and correlate them with data. The negative aspect of the correlational design is a lot of work goes into it. You must be good with numbersaltering, numbers altering statistics, and documenting but once finished, it makes for the best results (Stragnor, 2011). Experimental research means you play with the resalterinearch as in alter the variables. A researcher would literally “experiment” with the variables. A good example is the paid trials they have. Give someone a sugar pill or placebo and give the other group a medicine to be tested and watch the results. If this were a correlational study, there could be more differences between the two variables. In this experiment. In a correlational experiment, there would be more variables.
With todaystoday’straveled modern equipment and the technology that exists, research has traveled a far way. In the late 1800’s everything was put on paper. All information was what someone told to an officer. Research still has its original manner of sending an officer to your house, but the technology is tenfold to verify the evidence and tell the story of the crime. We need research to prove crimes. Possibility and probability would be near to none without modern technology. Forensic research can also help Forensic psychology to understand why people do what they do and to understand/analyze the reality of crime.
