We all have two minds our conscious mind and our subconscious mind. Most people think that your conscious mind is in control, but in fact your subconscious mind is the one that is in control. Our subconscious mind is like a computer we feed information to it by the way of our five senses seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting. You can try and will your conscious mind all you want, but if the subconscious opposes, sees it differently because of what you’ve fed it nine times out ten it will win. I truly believe you should control and master your inner thoughts(mental) because Your mind has a powerful impact on your spiritual and physical health.

My dad goes to a lot of NA meetings and sometimes I go with him not because I’m a recovering addict it’s just because most of the people I listened to are very grateful for their sobriety and I get a different perspective on life just from listening to the stories they share, one thing they say a lot is ‘He who controls his mind, controls his life’ as simple as that may sound trying to control your mind is the hardest thing you can do, why?? Because Your subconscious is like a computer storing up every experience. Everything that you’ve ever witnessed, everything that has ever happened to you are documented straight into your subconscious it documents positive or negative experiences, and those experiences shape our thoughts, and our perception of reality which is a big reason why we can’t control them. The opposite of that statement is in fact true, ‘He who doesn’t control his mind has no control over his life.’ When you’re not in control of your mind, you play and have the victim mentality. You see everything that happens to you as caused by someone else, you blame those who you feel are responsible. I know a lot of people who are convinced that positive thinking won’t work for them. However, those people are very unhappy with themselves and its their negative way of thinking that creates their negative emotions. If you want to be happy, you must choose a pattern of thinking that leads to positive emotions. You cant control what other people do or what happens around you, but you can control your mind. By controlling your mind, you control your thoughts, your beliefs, your actions, the images in your head and most importantly your emotions. The people who control their minds recognize and realize that they have the power.

One of my favorite quotes is from William Shakespeare ‘There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”, in other words, it’s not the situation itself that determines how you feel or how you react, it’s how you view the situation through your own mind, your thinking process, that determines how you feel, how you react. Our daily situation also impacts your way of thinking and peace of mind. Losing your job, lights getting cut off, car getting repossessed, getting evicted, going bankrupt. These are all daily obstacles that we face that add to the stress that we already face daily. I remember chatting with a woman who was pretty frustrated cause she just lost her job working at the Henry Ford plant for the last 6 years. She said, “How can I think positive Leo when I had to apply for food stamps last week?” And what she said is in fact true, how can we think positive when it feels like your situation is crumbling all around you. One thing that I’ve been doing whenever I’m in a negative situation I try to control my words meaning ‘I speak words into existence’. I’ve noticed some major shifts in my way of thinking, when I control my words and use my words of gratitude deliberately. It’s scientifically proven that your daily words can begin to reprogram what’s in your subconscious. Once you’ve reprogrammed your subconscious, then your thoughts can begin to change. Change your thoughts, change your life.’

In conclusion you cannot create a positive life with Negative Thinking. Negative thinking leads to negative emotions, positive thoughts result in positive emotions. If you really want to feel good about yourself and live a happy positive life, the only option you have is try to learn to think positive. Changing any habit of thinking is extremely hard, the choice to think positive can have a great effect on your life. It is worth the effort to do what you can do to empower yourself and your way of thinking.
