Have cellphones, computers, and other forms of technology changed our standards of living? The progression of technology has made many aspects of our lives easier than the day of our parents, and their parents before them. Technology affects our everyday lives in various ways, although in spite of their benefits, there are many flaws within the process of artificial intellegence. However, despite these flaws, technology helps the world more then it is hurting it.
Even though we count on our digital life to help us navigate through reality, it does have a few negative effects on society. Daily life back in our parents day, involved a lot of physical activity, but now people have more leisure at hand and in the process have avoided the urge for activity and exercise. People have also become very dependant on technology to do their work for them, they rely more on machines than human intellect.
One of the biggest downfalls to the rise of artificial intelligence, is that it has pushed the unemployment rate through the roof because of the new technology being faster and cheaper to maintain then the average working person. Have we ever thought that a single chip would replace an entire assembly line of workers? Technology also relies heavily upon electricity, and if we were to lose electricity and or if certain computers were to fail, society wouldn’t run properly because of how it has built up to be.
Even though we may be able to enjoy all the pricey luxuries technology offers, we miss out on the little priceless joys of life. Research states that there are many effective usages for modern day technologies, ways were not even able to see. Such as the rapid development of computers and robots. Which has made manufacturing a whole lot more efficient, in time and cost of production. Computers help process information much faster than ever before and make time management much easier in our personal lives.
Computers have made navigation satellites and tracking devices a more commonly used technology. This is very good due to the amount of traveling that is done by people now. Even more common appliances such as alarm clocks, dishwashers, coffee makers, TV’s, Etc. , has completely evolved by computer chips, and become quick and easy to use. Technology has made a great impact on many people such as me and the entire community as a whole. It has brought luxury to life, easy access to any type of knowledge, and has generally made life much easier.
There was a time when a person was diagnosed with HIV, they were excluded from the society because people thought they would be infected even by touching the infected person. But thanks to the advancements of technology in the field of medicine and health, now these people are treated with love and care and have a hope to live. Doctors and researchers all over the world are working countless hours to introduce new medicines and treatments which can cure even the deadliest of diseases.
This surely has added a few years to the average life span of humans. The use of advanced technologies like robotics and artificial intelligence have been proved helpful in professions such as mining, space exploration, and any other life risking tasks. Technology has also created a positive change to the entertainment and advertising industry. Advertisements can spread within seconds over the Internet. The entertainment media, and social media has progressed mainly because of the advancements in technology.
In conclusion, the advantages of modern day technology today overcome the obvious, and unseen disadvantages it also holds. The growth of expansion within technology, can only mean evolution in our everyday lives. Along comes positive and negative outcomes in many situations although society will forever depend on how everything will be done technologically in the future, and the present. Considering there are more pros then cons, I believe things can only get better for how the world reacts to how technology advances, and what it will become.
