People of different age groups, including adults and teens, are affected by stress. This leads to a decrease in their ability to handle stress effectively. Personally, when I am stressed, I use various methods to find relief. These include practicing breathing exercises, playing basketball, or listening to music. These strategies successfully reduce stress by redirecting focus away from problems and towards the present moment. In a recent stressful situation, I integrated different types of breathing exercises into my Relaxation Technique.
The act of breathing can help maintain a good physical and mental state. I encountered an overwhelming situation where I was given an excessive workload in all six of my classes within a week, with the deadlines coinciding on the same day. Although I initially planned to work on a little each day, I found myself falling behind and becoming extremely stressed about two days before the due dates. This stress became so overpowering that I ended up crying and feeling completely lost on how to handle the situation. To regain control, I laid out all the tasks in front of me and took a moment to gather myself.
Through the practice of deep breathing exercises and closing my eyes, I regained composure. This allowed me to complete three projects late into the night and have discussions with teachers about extending deadlines for remaining projects. Breathing restored peace and enabled a logical approach to problem-solving. It is important to clear one’s mind as stress can overpower both the body and abilities. Engaging in physical activities is essential for learning how to manage and control stress.
Participating in physical activities can effectively redirect your attention and enable you to concentrate on the present moment, temporarily disregarding any stress you may be experiencing. Following engagement in your preferred activity, it is probable that you will experience a sense of tranquility and preparedness for managing stress. Personally, I find pleasure in taking walks as they offer me an opportunity to serenely contemplate my difficulties and explore potential solutions. During these walks, I frequently find myself meandering aimlessly without a specific destination, whether it be within my neighborhood or a nearby park. Throughout this process, I diligently evaluated the merits and drawbacks of this approach.
Focusing on one task at a time exceeded my expectations and helped clear my mind. Taking a walk greatly improved my mood, while music served as an effective stress-reliever by diverting attention and providing relief. Allowing myself a 15-minute break to enjoy favorite songs before returning to work can have tremendous benefits. The constant pressure of work can be overwhelming, so having the chance to relax and enjoy music is truly amazing.
Music has the ability to uplift and change one’s mood, even when feeling happy and motivated. The sound of a favorite band can inspire excitement and happiness, even in times of trivial sadness. Similarly, during long study sessions that become boring after about 2 hours, there is often a desire to quit before finishing. However, by taking just 15 minutes to listen to my top 5 songs, I am able to regain focus and energy, feeling refreshed and ready to continue.
