With music, some can ascertain the the composer or artist was using it as an outlet for expressing their emotions. Not only is music created from an emotion but it on top of that affects our emotions. We know that music has been indispensable throughout history. A quote by Friedrich Nietzsche “without music life would be a mistake.” perfectly sums up how much society values music.
I am given to understand that Music is how people portray different emotions as well as feelings. Music has the ability to show us how humans typically socialize in addition to how humans communicate. This is why Music is currently known to be called not just a universal language but THE universal language.
The ideas of emotions in music has discombobulated many; for example why does certain cords or melodies provoke a specific emotion. Music is often takes inspiration from other pieces of music that are use to create a parallel emotion within the various listeners. Music accompanied by lyrics is easier to understand with this point due to the lyrics being a big part in driving the tone of the song, but with just instruments, the reason why there is a universal tone is harder to understand.
I have a few hypotheses I have behind this, one is that humans are biologically engineered to reply to a specific way that different things sounds. One theory is that we are instructed to respond a specified way when we hear sounds like sirens we immediately know something bad is happening. Other examples of this is when someone hears a booming high frequency sound one would most likely get a feeling of importance that requires immediate action like when a baby yell and cry.
Emotions are strongly linked to our brain and it can show a lot of how our brains work. One interesting thing about music is the idea of synesthesia. Synesthesia is a condition that is neurological when the stimulation of a sensory or a cognitive pathway that leads to the brain conjuring up thing such as letters, numbers as well as colors in ways that are significantly different than most. “More than any other stimulus, music has the wherewithal to conjure up images as feelings that need not necessarily be directly reflected in memory. The overall phenomenon still retains a certain level of mystery; the reasons behind the ‘thrill’ of listening to music is strongly tied in with various theories based on synesthesia.” This quote shows how people with synesthesia can have different experience with emotions connected with music.
Why Does Music Make Us Feel?

Someone may hear a lot of beautiful sounds everyday through out someone’s lifetime, like water coming out of the faucet or the fully pleasurable sound of shuffling deck, but right as we hear a specific melody, good or bad, we immediately identify it as music all the time it will immediately invoke a specific emotion, good or bad. furthermore it is not with just music but all sounds have the aptness to invoke an emotion, and it is a mystery to how we are somehow are able to hear the difference between them both.
A new study in canada revealed that one’s preferred music has the power to cause acute feelings of euphoria as well as a feeling of yearning. This study has found that music has the means to make a monumental amount of dopamine in ones brain create more feelings of happiness. This supplied evidence on how music has the potentiality to change not just how someone may feel but the actual makeup of the human brain.
Today there has been so much research on how music has the ability to make us not only feel a range of emotions but additionally make us smarter and has the ability to help humans with thing such a physical therapy and has the ability to help our physical health. But most likely the most bewildering topic of music for philosophers, scientists, and doctors is whether or not music has a significant affect an emotion built on whether a note was drawn out or shorter or how loud or quiet the note is.
Perceived and Felt
Humans do not always the experience same feelings there are two base types of emotions: perceived emotions and felt emotions. Perceived emotions is when one knows the emotions of the piece but is not able to feel it. For example some are able to think listening to sad music is enjoyable. And don’t feel any authentic danger when there is intense music. And felt emotions are fairly self explanatory.
Social Aspect
The vertiy that humans are interactional animals, having relationships with others has the potential to ameliorate one’s emotional circumstances. The idea of sharing an experience with fellow human beings is, what some believe, is primarily gained from our origins and how humans have evolved over time.
Recent experimentations have been able to communicate that after a person has a stroke, that listening to music helps immensely with advocating behavioral recovery, and furthermore encourages ingrained neuroanatomical changes in a humans recovering brain. It aided ameliorate their verbal as well as visual recollection and attention span. It furthermore provided them a sense of jurisdiction over their recovery. It furthermore helps prevents them from having seizures in their future.

One big thing that affects emotions is the interaction of people and how they are able to relate to music.
Me: “what do you enjoy about music?’
Interviewee: “It all I’m really good at.”
In doing this research I hadn’t yet considered how people have careers in music and spend most of their time doing music. Doing music for most of one’s days would have a huge impact on not only how someone may perceive music but how music makes someone feel.
The Science Behind It
Three experts from School music seperated 5 sound clips into the eight categories of Hevner emotion cycle The first part of the mood model is lofty, spiritual, dignified, awe-inspiring, sacred, sober, solemn, and serious. The second part of the mood model is pathetic, doleful, sad , mournful, melancholy, tragic, depressing, frustrated, gloomy, heavy, and dark. The third part is dreamy, yielding, tender, sentimental, longing, yearning, pleading, and plaintive. The fourth part is lyrical, leisurely, satisfying, tranquil, serene, quite, and soothing. The fifth part is humorous, playful, fanciful, whimsical, sprightly, quaint, light, delicate, and graceful. The sixth part is joyous, merry, gay, cheerful, happy, and bright. The seventh part is exhilarated, triumphant, exciting, passionate, sensational, soaring, agitated, dramatic, impetuous, and restless. The eighth and final part is vigorous, ponderous, emphatic, robust, martial, majestic, and exalting.
Out of these they decided on 6 main emotional clusters. Which has the first one labeled at L1 being amazed – surprised, the second one being labeled as L2 being happy – pleased, the third one being labeled as L3 being relaxing – calm, the fourth one being labeled as L4 being calm – still, the fifth one being labeled at L5 being sad – lonely, and finally the sixth one being labeled as L6 is angry – fearful.
They were able to use a highly complex system that used wavelength to determine the emotion that the music evoked. They calculated Binary relevance, label powerset, random K-labelsets, and multilabled k-nearest neighbor. In simpler terms they discovered that music is more than what we feel. It’s science!
BET
Basic Emotion Theory (BET) has only lately begun to build an emergence in musical research. In folk psychology, the conviction of “basic emotions” demands the expectation that emotions advance in a congregation of predefined categories such as sad, happy, angry, and more. It is disbuted that all basic feelings are shown by a committed neural network, that controls the affect programs that present the rise to them. It also suggested that since the assumed categorical how much it is fixed of these basic emotions, they may be forming the “building blocks” that more complex emotions come from.
This proposition has been formalized by BET proper, which declares the existence of a meager group of disjoint fundamental emotions that metamorphose in response to the confrontations that humans ancestors encountered in their day-to-day life. Here the term “affect programs” refers to the mechanisms that produce “the patterns for these complex organized responses, and which when set off directs their occurrence”. Such contents and the responses they provoke are considered to be culturally international and are hence understood to work as “auto appraisals” selected by evolution.
