At the point when requested to depict what my writing is like earlier this week, I said my writing was incoherent. I did not see myself as a good writer after writing narrative essay. I have no confidence in myself and I simply needed to progress on writing. The very first paper I wrote for this class was a personal narrative essay, and the second writing paper was analysis response essay. There were many composition ability exercises that I have never known about and through this class, I could find out about them and the sky’s the limit from there. During the six weeks of writing 131, there were definite courses that helped me compose expositions and some that were only instructive for my investigation propensities. So far in W131 I am making progress in the areas of improving format, writing strong essay, and citation, but I am struggling with brainstorming ideas for my topic, narrowing my paper, and using correct grammar.
An open-form is a process of writing that uses narrative techniques such as storytelling, summarizable thesis. An open-form prose relates to the first paper which was an “Autobiography Narrative Essay.” Closed-form prose writing is defined as coherent paragraph, supportive an explicit thesis, and transitions between sentences and paragraph. The second paper “Summary/Strong Response Essay” was more like a closed-form writing. I felt more comfortable with an open-form prose of writing. I developed more ideas when I wrote an autobiography narrative. My strong response essay was an incoherent writing which I do not think it make sense even for myself. I do not connect my topic in each paragraph when I write a paper. This class has made a difference for me to achieve the skills needed to become a much better writer in college, and for my future. Peer editing has helped with my grammar mistakes and developing more ideas on my writing. I went to writing center before turning my final draft, which helped me fixed my grammar and brainstorming my topics. I made my group better by commenting on my peer’s paper and giving feedback on their improvement. I did connect GM to my autobiography narrative essay, but I did not do well on connecting it with my topic. My second source really tied into my second essay, because both sources discussed on the same topic.
My English courses have arranged me for my future career, because as a nursing major, there are multiple writing research paper. I did not see myself as a good writer. As I mention on my first paper, “I did not get to write an essay back in Burma, and writing in English was a lot harder. So, I had to work harder on writing a strong essay with correct grammar.” My second paper really tied with the source I chose from another sites, which mainly focused on the same topic. So far in W131 I am making progress in the areas of improving format, writing strong essay, and citation, but I am struggling with brainstorming ideas for my topic, narrowing my paper, and using correct grammar. W131 course will help me through writing a strong paper with strong thesis.
