Tell us an interesting or amusing story about yourself that you have not already shared in your application. The Magnet Program offers great opportunities to its students. As a Magnet Senior, I was given the opportunity to work as an intern at any place of my choice for a whole semester. Along with the internship program, I had to complete an in-depth research project on any topic related to my internship program. While choosing the field I wanted to work in, I focused on doctors and other medical professions since I was interested in them. After an exhaustive search, I got an internship position with Dr. Ceana Nezhat, a Gynecologist at Northside Hospital.
Working under Dr. Nezhat was an experience of a lifetime. On my first day at the hospital, the doctors and nurses thought I was a graduate student when I mentioned I would be working as an intern with Dr. Nezhat. During my internship, I was able to experience and learn about the hospital environment. A major advantage was getting the opportunity to learn from an ophthalmologist for a whole day. My favorite part of the internship program was the research; my topic was on Endometriosis and infertility. I learnt a lot through my research and all the cases I observed in the operating room. I also enjoyed sharing all of my research with my classmates.
