Simon is killed by the other boys on the island after he tries to warn them about the “beast.”
In Lord of the Flies, Simon is killed by the other boys on an island in the middle of a war zone. The boys have been left on their own to fend for themselves and decide how they will live. They are all young boys between 12 and 14 years old, and they are all alone together with no adults to guide them or keep them safe. The boys’ leader, Jack, has created a tribe of hunters who go out looking for food every day and bring back whatever they can find. They also hunt wild pigs on the island, but they often kill each other instead as well. This is what happens when Simon tries to stop Jack from killing Piggy:
Simon: “You can’t just go around killing people because you’re afraid.”
Jack: “Afraid?” he said scornfully. “Of course not! You don’t think I’m afraid, do you?
