Myrtle Wilson's husband, George, killed Gatsby. This happened because Gatsby was driving the car that hit and killed Myrtle Wilson.
Detailed answer:

On one of the hottest days of the year, a young man named Gatsby was killed in a hit-and-run accident. The woman who killed him was his former lover, Daisy Buchanan.

Gatsby was crossing the street to get to Daisy’s house when he was hit by her car. Daisy did not see him until it was too late and she had already hit him. She claimed that she did not see him at all.

Gatsby was upset with Daisy because she would not leave him alone and wanted to end their relationship. She did not want to see him anymore because she thought he would never change or improve himself.

Daisy did not intend to kill Gatsby, but she was not careful and did not see him until it was too late. Her carelessness led directly to his death.

Gatsby’s death was also a tragedy because it meant that Daisy would never be able to truly be happy again without him in her life.
