Life can be challenging and difficult. Sometimes, it can be difficult to understand why certain things happen in life, or why God would put us through hard times. It is important to recognize that God puts us through challenges for our own benefit.
The Bible provides several explanations as to why God allows hardships and difficulties in our lives. In Romans 5:3-5, it states “we glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” We experience hardship so that we may become stronger people of faith with an increased capacity to persevere and have hope in difficult situations.
God also uses hardships as a way to purify us from sin and draw us closer to Him. Hebrews 12:10 says “for they disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness”. Through trials we experience spiritual growth and renewal which helps bring us closer to the Lord. In addition, going through hard times can help build resilience as well as teach valuable lessons about life such as patience and gratitude.
Difficulties are an inevitable part of life but this doesn’t mean they have no purpose or value at all – far from it! If anything, they are meant to bring greater meaning into our lives by helping us grow spiritually so that we may be better equipped when facing future challenges down the road.
