The Tragedy Of Hamlet is a piece of literature that develops the theme of revenge can lead to death and madness. Hamlet develops the theme himself through his actions because throughout the story he been killing people and been doing craziness. Hamlet trying to avenge his father death by killing Claudius which ending in getting what he wanted but turn out to be a tragic lost. When Hamlet seen the ghost and it told him that Claudius killed the king and told Hamlet that he wanted to seek revenge.
Hamlet is going to pretend angry since Horatio and others think that he been acting strangely already he’s going to act even more and more strange and as Hamlet continue the odd behavior the characters don’t know if he is faking or not. Hamlet develops the theme of revenge can lead to death and madness because in act 3 scene 4 he killed Polonius because he thought he was Claudius. As Hamlet was talking to his mother Gertrude very roughly when his mother cried for help and he heard Polonius talked and thought it was Cladius and stabbed Polonius.
This develop the theme of madness because Hamlet was so mad that he thought the noise he heard was Claudius and killed Polonius from an misunderstanding but Hamlet seem to have no remorse about him killing Polonius. He replaced the body out of his mother feelings and won’t tell anyone where he had hidden the body and continue to pretend crazy and started saying things that no one knew what he meant. After killing Polonius Hamlet believe that might it be a punishment from god because he continue to hurt people around him just trying to seek revenge but from the looks of it Hamlet seem to not care because polonius was being nosey and trying to figure out what was up with Hamlet but killing him in his mother room was very strange and horrible especially for the mother who was devastated and was in tears because she seen her son kill Polonius right in front of her.
While trying to get revenge Hamlet broke Ophelia heart he was acting weird and since Ophelia listened to her father and brother about what kind of person Hamlet really is. Ophelia was denying Hamlet gifts and letters and didn’t talk to Hamlet in weeks and when she finally did Hamlet told her that he wasn’t in love with her anymore. Hamlet really got deep love for Ophelia but since he was on a mission to seek revenge for his father ghost. Hamlet had to put aside all his feelings and thoughts and hurt poor Ophelia heart and continue to make people think that he is losing his mind but reality he’s not. Hamlet also develops the theme through his action by talking to his old friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in act 2 scene 3 and told them that he was mad at this mother quick marriage after his father’s death. But Hamlet was really mad about what the ghost had told him about getting revenge and he didn’t want to give them the exact reason because he wanted them to think he was insane so he told them another reasonn that he was mad about instead of telling them the truth..
Hamlet is still asking himself about his father spirit and about what the ghost ask him to do and him thinking of his mother remarriage to to Claudius and the fact that he was crown king after the marriage months later after his brother death that he took part in. Which Claduis really killed his brother to be able to get the crown and become king of denmark and marry the queen and the queen married Cladius because of her nation of ownership. Since Hamlet done seen the ghost everything went left, he done began to pretend crazy and had everybody thinking different reason on why is that the case of hamlet crazy behavior. After being rejected from Ophelia because of the poison of words her father and brother told her about Hamlet he felt as if she don’t love him no more but Hamlet going to take matters of his own hands.
Hamlet done killed Polonius in his mother room and hid the body and begin responding with smart comments to whoever ask where he put the body. After all that Hamlet done cause during the whole book Claudius and Hamlets mother done had enough of this insane behavior so they want his closes friends which is Guildenstern and Rosencrantz that he grew up with to see if he will go to Europe with them to let him cool down and relax to clear his mind after everything is going on. After killing the love of his life father Ophelia been very depressed in act 4 scene 5 because Polonius was her everything and he even warn her about Hamlet. Even though Hamlet done rejected her and done treated her badly it drove poor Ophelia crazy and she was having a mental breakdown.
Now since Ophelia lost her father she has everybody worried is she going insane as well until it was too late she had died from picking flowers by the river and felled in and didn’t even try to save herself now Ophelia is gone and lost all hope on life after the love of her life killed her father. Which now everyone seems to think she lost thought of everything and got overly overwhelmed and others thought she might had going insane and mad like Hamlet but her madness was really real and genuine. Hamlet mind is still set on to getting revenge as the ghost of his father had told him after he done pretend to be crazy after he seen his father ghost and done killed the love of his life father and done roughly scared him mother and broke Ophelia heart. His mother and Cladius is tired of his insane behavior they decided to send him away to Europe by help of his two closes friends. If he decides to go that will be great because they believe he need to get away for a while.
Now that Ophelia know that Hamlet done killed her father she went into depression because of her dear father was killed by the love of her life and she couldn’t process everything. Since Ophelia lost her life because of whats going on Hamlet is continuing to seek revenge on Claudius but have a hard way of trying to figure out how when he do come to a part when he can its never the right time because he always hesitating to do. But Hamlet is a very mentally strong and has complex mindset. His sense always tell him whats wrong and whats not wrong and Hamlet seem to sruggel with things he is going through because his trying to focus on one thing but that one thing which is trying to seek revenge on Claudius.
Escalate to more problems that he wasn’t looking for or didn’t know all this will cause more problems and more lies seem to be happening and deaths begun to occur and more things just seem to go little to far then expected jujst because he seen the ghost of his father that made him go insane and had evert one in denmark afraid of what will happen next. Also the ready should expect that the language of film and the text will be different and props that you see that wasn’t in the movie. Revenge can lead to death and madness is develop through the elements of props and acting and acting choices by In the scene of the film when Hamlet was talking to his mother about why she remarried so fast after his father death to the killer which is the ex king brother Hamlet became so mad he got aggressive with her and heard someone being nosey and killed poor Polonius because he thought he was Claudius sneaking around which is an acting choice.
The actor choices enchances the meaning of my theme because in the scene the choices the actor made the actors made in the film was lead to death of another character that was cause by Hamlet because of his actions. I choose this production element to support my theme because it tells how madness can lead to death because of revenge and how someone else death is cause by someone elses madness because they worried about seeking revenge because of what an order was giving to them and going to get it done if that mean even hurting the people he love and killing people to get it done. This matters because acting choice, the props and acting chose develop the theme throughout the story and gives you a better understanding on how it interpret through the story.
Another revenge can lead to death and madness through the elements of props and acting and acting choices is by in the scene of the film when Hamlet made Claudius drink the poison by holding the sword to his throat because his mom drink it and died. The actors choices and props and acting enchances the meaning of the theme because it shows that Hamlet has finally seek revenge against Claudius for his father ghost and after all Hamlet been through to get to this finale act after killing Polonius and breaking Ophelia heart and being rude to his mother and just been acting overly insane Hamlet seek his revenge Claudius got what he deserve but so did Hamlet it was a very bad breaking point when Claudius had died because of all the obstacles been happening everything finally came to a closure because of the actions that were ocurred and the actions that was taken before thinking a lot of people lost they=re lives because of the actions of others.
This matters because the acting choice and props and the acting develop the theme through out the story to give you the outcome of what happen when Hamlet finally seek revenge and how the reader can picture and get a better understanding on how and what happen to the characters through out the play and how they ended up at the end of the story and how it played an huge part of the film you can see how it really happen how the actors of the film use different props differently from the story and how actions was taking differently then before and how the outcome was the last thing that tells you why revenge can lead to madness or death because of what happen to Grutrude , Latertes,Caludius and hamlet and Polonus and Ophelia which is very tragic for most of them but they all died by someone else action which lead to a very bad ending. I continue to learn about my thesis statement is that motives is what make the film and that a lot of things that happen without the elements of the film.
This all matters because it gives a better understanding to the person who is watching the film and have no idea about whats going on if they didn’t read the book. It helps the reader to understand and to know that the theme revenge can lead to madness and death. And it shows all Hamlet actions and expressions that is being taken place from him What the film offered that the book did not is a lot of different elements and props that we saw that wasn’t discuss in the book. Also in the film we can actually can see the characters actions and reactions taken place but in the book you can only visualize whats going on in your head but the flim is taking in action and can give you a better point of view of whats going on.
Throughout the film you will notice the theme revenge can lead to death and madness is being shown and the reader should catch on to whats going on. While the film shows how well the characters handle each situation differently then the book some was the same and some was not different props was use then what the book for an example when Hamlet killed Polonius in the book it said that he stabbed him with the sword but in the film he was shot by Hamlet with a gun thats an example of how different the film and the book is because they use different props to to kill Polonius. In the film it offered alot of different things the book did not state, by reading the book you couldn’t really get a good picture to what the characters was feeling throughout the book. The language in the book is another key element that book did not state.
As well as the costumes the actors were wearing in the book was different from what they was wearing in the film because of the time period. My views of my thesis change as i got a better understanding of the film because the film showed more then what the book could not it broke it down better then the book. Because by me watching the film I could see the characters in actions taken place besides just reading the book trying to picture if the characters looking like this or how they taking in what ever is happening to them.
For an example when watching the film you are going to get a good visual of what you was trying to get when reading the book. As in facial expression the actors movements the way the actors using props around them or props that was use in the film but wasn’t being said in the book and since I got a better understanding I know now that Hamlet love for his father was real because he did a lot to get revenge on his uncle for killing his beloved father to take the crown after he done build bridges with people to get that far and for it all to end so tragic and now that I watch the film I got a better understanding on whats going on all because of the movie production.
