On my first day at LNU House, I was both excited and nervous. I arrived at 8:00 AM and immediately logged in and reported to Mr. Jerwyn R. Tan, the SRO (Student Resident Officer). I asked him what my task for the day would be. He assigned me as a Houseman in the Public Area and asked me to prepare the necessary materials such as a mop, soft broom, stick broom, and dustpan. He also requested that I clean the terrace, tea room, and function room. I had the assistance of my co-practicumers Ms. Marie Vee Peñaflor, Ms. Marjoree Guy, and Ms.

Dorris Colminar and Mr. Mark Ian Quintero were tasked with wiping the windows, sweeping, and mopping the floor. We then took our break and ate our lunch. After finishing our meal, I logged in at 1:00 pm and immediately reported to the SRO (Security and Reception Officer). The SRO requested that I clean the front office lobby, water the plants, and pick up any dried leaves. After completing my duties, I logged out at around 5:00 pm and went home. It was an exciting day to begin my first duty at LNU house. This is a narrative of my experiences as a Linen and Laundry Area and Room Attendant named Marjorie Bless M. on February 17, 2013.

I was on duty at G4 – TFRI from 9:30-11:30 A.M on Sunday. Upon arriving at LNU House on my second day, I logged in and reported to Mr. Jerwyn R. Tan, the SRO (Student Resident Officer). He assigned me to the linen and laundry area and instructed me to prepare the necessary items such as laundry soap, fabric conditioner, brushes, and bleaches. My task was to wash the linens and hang them outside the laundry area. Ms.

Apple Claire Alegado, the Housekeeping Supervisor, assigned me the role of being a room attendant for rooms 304, 305, 306, 307, and 312. I gathered the necessary materials including a soft broom, dustpan, duster, and mop. My co-practicumers, Ms. Marjoree Guy, Ms. Marie Vee Peñaflor, Ms. Dorris Colminar, and Mr. Mark Ian Quintero, assisted me in making the beds, sweeping the floor to remove dust, and disposing of some trash. Afterwards, we had lunch. Following our meal, I logged in at around 1:00pm and promptly informed the SRO about my upcoming task.

The Housekeeping Supervisor instructed me to clean the VIP room. I gathered the necessary materials such as a duster, soft broom, dustpan, and began sweeping the floor and disposing of trash. Shortly after this task, the personal maid of the president of LNU asked me and my co-practicumers – Ms. Colminar, Ms. Guy, Ms. Peñaflor, and Mr. Quintero to go to the president’s office to arrange and cover the tables and chairs. After completing my duties, I logged out at around 5:00 pm and went to church. Although it was a tiring day, it was a valuable experience on my second day at LNU House.

On my third day of duty in LNU House, I arrived at around 8:00 o’clock in the morning. I immediately logged-in and reported to Mr. Jerwyn R. Tan, the SRO (Student Resident Officer), to find out what my task for the day would be. I was assigned to the Public Area as a Houseman and began preparing the necessary tools, including a soft broom, stick broom, dustpan, and mop.

He asked me to clean the garden, front office lobby, and function room. We then took a break and had lunch. After lunch, I logged out at around 1:00 pm and reported to the SRO. He asked me to clean the front office lobby, mop the restroom, sweep the garden, remove dried leaves, and water the plants. After completing the tasks, I logged out at around 5:00 pm and went home. It was a dull and exhausting day because I had very few tasks on my third day at LNU House, but I still enjoyed working in the morning with my fellow practicum students.

I immediately logged in and reported to Mr. Francis De La Cruz, the new SRO (Student Resident Officer), to find out what task I would be assigned that day. It turned out that I was assigned to the Laundry area, so I started gathering the necessary items such as laundry soap, fabric conditioner, brushes, and bleaches.

Before I began, I was surprised by the large number of dirty linens that needed urgent laundering. So, together with my co-practicumers Ms. Marjoree Guy, Ms. Marie Vee Peñaflor, Ms. Dorris Colminar, Ms. Edissa Leona, and Mr. Mark Ian Quintero, I started to do the laundry and hang the linens outside the laundry area.
