A worn path is a story about about a woman name Phoenix Jackson who needed to go into town for her grandson to pick up him some medicine. It was any ordinary trip she had already made before but it was something different about this trip. I plan on going into details about the characters she meet along the way into town. Aslo i will be discussing the theme in which the story is about, or what she had to go threw to get the medicine. Finally i will discuss the plot in which the entire story is mainly about.
Mrs. Jackson departed from the house to head into town to receives her grandson medicine. She came along this hill were she stugled and indeed up falling this hunter and his dog came along and the hunter seen Ms. jackson on the ground. Once he had her standing on her own two feet he had begin questioning her and telling her that she needs to go back home. She ignored what he said and she proceed to into town. She knew she wasn’t going to turn back now. The hunter pulled out his weapons pointed it directly into her face. This would have scared someone but not her, she stood tall and faced him. The hunter looked surprised she didn’t jump or get scared, he pull the gun away from her face and walk away. He said to Ms. phoenix you a crazy old lady and went about his way.
In the short story “A Worn Path”, the author Eudora Welty, Created a strong theme of undying love with using a older woman and her grandson. The older woman in the story is the main character her name is Phoenix. She taking this long journey down a path to bring her sick grandson medicine. She was really determined and was not letting no one stop her until her mission was complete. She was the only relative her grandson still have left , she kept him smiling and fulfill his needs. The author really kept great symbolism in this short story, full of religion, racism, and true love throughout the entire story. The author never discusses the mother in the story but phoenix is in her journey shows that you don’t have to be a mother to care for someone to and never stop until that person is saved.
Finally the plot of the story is about an african american lady who takes a journey on a familiar road to get her sick grandson some medicine. She encounters many obstacles like dogs, barbed wire, and bushes. She expressed herself throughout her surrounding and in a spurt of spoken words. She gave warnings to animals and express the pain she feel in her aching bones. The story is a tale of love and dedication that pushes us towards our goal.
Conclusion to the story of “A Worn Path” is Eudora welty shows that determination and will enable people to survive in life no matter how difficult the struggle is. Threw out all the stuff she went threw she was a tough lady, fighting to get to the town for her grandson she is a very dependable has a lot of fight in her and very determined.
