Abstract An online shopping system that permits a customer to submit online orders for items and/or services from a store that serves both walk-in customers and online customers. The online shopping system presents an online display of an order cutoff time and an associated delivery window for items selected by the customer. The system accepts the customer’s submission of a purchase order for the item in response to a time of submission being before the order cutoff time.

The online shopping system does not settle with a credit supplier of the customer until the item selected by the customer is picked from inventory but before it is delivered. Therefore, the customer can go online and make changes to the order. In addition, available service windows are presented to the customer as a function of customer selected order and service types; and further, the order picking is assigned in accordance with a picker’s preference.

We find that it is quite popularly used, as any individual is capable of online shopping.

Even if one is not an expert concerning computer use, features such as the help department on a website, make online shopping extremely simple. All one needs is access to a personal computer, and a debit card. There are two major types of online shopping relationships. These include two business’s working together, or a business functioning as its main goal to serve the consumer. These sites are some of the most successful online business running at the time.

Others have even enabled people the chance to make profit from their own personal belongings. They are truly successful as they offer an outstanding customer service. It is quite evident that these sites made shopping one of the easiest tasks possible. A statement of the problem The current way of marketing tourist products in Kenya is manual in that the tourists have to come to the specific center’s in order to be able to buy the products.

Adopting an online way of being able to sell the products online as well as marketing will enhance the total cost of both local and foreign tourists in the way of shopping for the products. An online shopping system will provide security in shopping opposed to the current manual system of shopping. Project objectives To enable quick marketing of the tourist goods through the online advertisement. To enable secure online shopping through users being able to access accounts with authentications. To enable secure payment of goods through the use of plastic money.

Enablement of a E-tourism system in Kenya as the system is an online way of shopping. To enable reduction in cost of shopping of the tourist through them being able to buy products online reducing the travelling costs. To enable shopping through shopping cart that provides a customer to shop m0any goods at a go. To shop while in the comfort of your own home without having to step out of the door. Sell at lower rate due to less over head. Provide home delivery free of cost.

HYPOTHESIS Online shopping is a method to buy products and services on the internet.

With features such as price comparison, product photos and user reviews, consumers can shop easily and smartly without even going to the stores and having such a hard time looking for the products they want. All they have to do are just browse for the product they want in the website and within a few mouse clicks they are off. Such simplicity is what makes online shopping appealing for consumers. CHAPTER THREE METHODOLOGY My methodology to be used is the Waterfall Model

The waterfall model is a sequential process, often used in software development process, in which progress is seen as flowing steadily downwards (like a waterfall) through the phases include: Analysis This involves complete investigation of the system currently in use, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of the system as well as getting the users requirements about the new system to be developed. Specifications Building This involves gathering the user needs of the system as well as wide consultation and enquiry with the system users. Design and Implementation

This involves coming up with the system once the system users provide all the relevant materials that will facilitate the building of the prototype i. e. company logos, site photographs, project prospectus’ etc. This helps in designing the user interface of the system. Coding and Implementation In this phase the designs are translated into code. Computer programs are written using a conventional programming language or an application generator. Maintenance This stage involves going live with the system and carrying out regular system maintenance so as to ensure that the system runs without any problem.

Software Requirements The software requirements that should enhance the proper functioning of this system are: a) MySQL server for the design of the database b) Local host – This system has a web based database hence it needs a local server to execute its database tasks e. g. Wamp c) Antivirus software- to guard against viruses. d) Dreamweaver Primary Sources Include: Interviews I interviewed a selected part of the population, which included the students and the management staff. The staff provided important insight as to how they run their activities and manage information using the current system.

They also gave views on how designing a computerized system would aid them in carrying out their activities. Questionnaires. Questionnaires containing both open ended and close-ended question were designed and then latter administered to the respondents. The aim of the open-ended questions was to capture a detailed respondent’s opinions on the area of interest. The close-ended question captured the view of the user concerning a specific area. The respondents were not subjected to any influence. The questionnaires were self-administered to the respondents.

The questions were fairly answered and got sufficient information. Observation From my observations, conclusions were made regarding the current online system. These observations helped in analyzing how the current system works and lead the researcher into thinking how to develop a system that would help ease the problems that were in the current system. Report Writing: This involved writing observation results on paper.
