HTC has been around for over fifteen years and will continue to be around for another fifteen years at the very least. Although many media sources speculate that HTC is going to die as a company, it has proven to remain at the forefront of technological advances and will continue to do so. HTC is a smaller company then Apple or Samsung, which are a couple of the competitors in the same market. The company, therefore, does not have as vast a variety of products that these companies do; however, this may be an advantage. This paper will discuss HTC, as well as the products associated with the company. It will further analyze the company’s upcoming products, the company’s strengths and weaknesses, pros and cons of the products, and an analysis of the competitors and the future of the company.

High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC) emerged as a company through a partnership between HT Cho, Cher Mi Wang, and Peter Chou in Taiwan in 1997 as a company to bring to the market a cell phone and personal assistant product. This venture proved unsuccessful and the company struggled until more capital was invested by one of the partners. The first large successes of HTC were realized in 2002 when Compaq and HP began buying products from HTC.3 The company did not start selling phones branded with the company name until around 2006. Up until that point, the phones and products designed by the company were sold to other companies and branded to those company names.

HTC took a hard hit in February of 2013 when it was forced to settle charges with the Federal Trade Commission over security vulnerabilities and threats in the company’s phones up to 2011. As a result, the company agreed to modify practices implementations and updates to fix any and all security issues in the existing and future phones. After this event, HTC became stronger overall as a company however. Since this event, the company has kept up with its competitors such as Apple, Samsung, and Motorola. The prices are relatively the same between the companies, with Apple being the most expensive, and Motorola being the least. HTC has surpassed these companies, however, in terms of innovation.

“It is early days for the HTC Vive and it has already elevated video games to an entirely new, insanely immersive level”. HTC is very well known for offering the latest technology ahead of the competitors. The company has also won numerous awards for their products, which can be found on the company website. The company has introduced many phones over the years, each year introducing a better, more accurate, or faster version of the products offered the previous year. Referred to as “a struggling Taiwan electronic company,” HTC has struggled throughout the years to compete with companies such as Apple that introduce a new iPhone every year or so. The company is, however, known for their quality products that hold up to the competition, and have created a well-known brand that is recognized globally.

HTC has been at the forefront of innovation and creativity since the start of the company, however there has been bumps and obstacles to overcome along the way. The company’s latest innovations that have been introduced, such as the Vive are continuously being worked on and will be the first of their kind to the market. The newest phone is still yet to be released and many individuals are excited to see what HTC will develop next. The leadership of the company has indicated that anything is possible in regard to what HTC will develop next and has ensured the public that the best is yet to come.
