BY kilovolt Army Brat Traveling has always been a passion of mine. Being an army brat, I find seeing new places, meeting new people and getting to know their different “traditions”, exceptionally Inspiring. But having to stay and live at the places I thought I was visiting was a difficult task for me. I love meeting new people and I enjoy having friends from all over but going to different schools every other year was a harder task. I have moved to quite a few places like Georgia, Hawaii, Fayetteville NC, and so on. These were just the most memorable places.
Being born here in Morphed City, I had a much different life than when I had to live on base. Well, living on base can be nice, sometimes, but it’s really crowded because the houses are connected usually. So when I came home to where I was born, here, it was nice to have our own space. Schooling is also easier on base due to the grading rubric. To get an 80 meant you got a B and to get a 90 meant you got an A. The work wasn’t as complicated and actually we were a little behind the schools off base. I was going to Morphed Primary and In about 3rd grade was when I moved to Hall.
We were already starting cursive when I left and when I got to Solomon Elementary In Hawaii It took months before we got to cursive and I was relearning stuff I already knew. Still that gave me and advantage and I got better grades. I left Hawaii and moved back halfway through fourth grade and that’s when I started having troubles because Morphed City Elementary, or Camp Glenn, was way ahead of me. I had Do’s pretty much that whole year. My mom never got told I was having troubles so it really never got fixed in time.
Leaving my friends every time I moved was the most difficult task ever. When I left in third grade I had a great friend. She was my best buddy ever you could say. I lost all contact with her when I moved back in 6th grade from Fayetteville because at that point we started going to different schools. Only because I lived in a new district so I could no longer continue going to the Morphed City schools. Even though my new friendships were hard to make, and y old friendships hard to fill In the gaps, It was still awesome I had so many friends In so many different places.
Being an army brat wasn’t easy. After a while I got used to having to move all the time. I am still so glad I got to come back home and live here in NC. I benefited so much more once I got to a stable place. I’m glad I have my friends back and my family around me. I know now that I’d never want to put my child through that though. I am happy right here. Exceptionally inspiring. But having to stay and live at the places I thought I was laces like Georgia, Hawaii, Fayetteville NC, and so on.
