Rep Smallness the father of the house hold spent his inure life studying the Holy Torah. While his daughter’s and wives main focus was to make money and pay bills, his was focused on the promise of heaven. In the Holy Torah, men are good and kind; they value the most importance over women. Being born into a family that believes and follows every word that the Torah says, Rep Smallness became an Orthodox rabbi and carried on his father duties. Therefore he believes that “only through a man has a woman an existence,” he proclaims. He was raised to believe that woman can only go to heaven If they marry man or a man of the Torah.
Also in his beliefs, the man was supposed to read and study the Torah as the woman were the “bread givers. ” In this case the Smilingly women were his slaves. The wife and three daughters of Rep Smilingly would work hard every day to pay rent and to put food on the table. Every day at dinner Mr.. Smallness would get the best part of the meal, the fat off the top of the soup. The money that the children would make everyday would always go to their father: they would never get to keep any money for themselves. Instead of Rep giving money to his daughters for food or loathes, he would give the money away to charities.
You would think that a mans life would be in his family, but not for Rep, his whole life was with his Torah and his charities. Sheens was the one that had all the worries and the burdens on her shoulder. It got to the point where they were behind two months rent and could lose everything. She was beginning to wonder when she was going to have a man that would do the worrying. Rep isn’t worried about anything as he states, “What is there to worry about, as long as we have enough to keep the breath in our bodies? But the real food is God’s Holy Torah.
Yet again Rep is always thinking about the Torah over worrying about how they are going to make rent. The Torah Is what Is taking Rep away from his life and It Is taking him away from supporting his one and only family. When the landlady came to get her rent Rep mentioned how he was waiting for the girls to find work. After a while the landlady got sick of hearing his stories and told him to get his own Job instead of sitting there and singing his prayers. Instead of thinking about how she is right and that he needs to support his wife and children, he slaps the lady for disrespecting the Torah.
That’s when he says “Ill teach you respect for the Holy Torah. ” He had no respect for anything but the Torah. The fact is, is in Rep Smokiness world of Torah, he believes he is very knowledgeable. When really in the real world he is seen as making foolish decisions in life. He seems to like to make these foolish decisions without consulting his wife about it. He seems to make a lot of poor decisions, but he never likes to admit this to himself. He would allow the decision to down grade further rather than to confess that he has made a poor decision. Daughters.
His daughters would have been happier on their own, if only he would have let them marry who they truly loved. But in Robe’s eyes the men they wanted to marry were horrible men if they didn’t read the Torah everyday like he did. His daughters hated him for this and sometimes they would hate God for putting them into that family. They always thought that all their father cared about was the Torah, but when it came to him finding a husband for his daughters he cared about not Just the Torah, but riches as well. The Torah is what controlled this mans life.
That book was his set of rules for his fife, but not only his life, he made those rules his house hold rules. He made his children suffer, but in his eyes he thought he was doing the right thing. He didn’t open his eyes to anything but the Holy Torah of God. He was hurting his daughters in so many ways, but he didn’t realize it because he only cared about one thing. After the hurt that he put his daughters through, they wanted nothing to do with the Torah. They were the one’s that had to work hard to pay for the bills and their fathers charities, all the wanted in return was love.
