Pass 1 – Explain the different types of business information, their sources and purposes Merit 1 – Analyses different types of business information and their sources Distinction 1 – Evaluate the appropriateness of business information used to make strategic decisions Scenario As Communications Officer for a Multinational firm, you have been asked to carry out an audit on the types of information used within a business.
You are required to report back to your manager on the range of information used, the ways in which it is used, and the appropriateness of information used in decision making. You must choose a particular multinational company and give a brief background to the firm Write a report to show the results of your investigation into information in an organization of your choice. In order to do this you should complete the following activities. Section 1. 1 (Pass 1) You are required to describe the types, sources and purposes of information used within the chosen organization, providing at least two examples of each type of information. This includes the way in which information is communicated to the customer. You must prepare materials to be discussed and resented at the meeting combining different forms of information, for example, text, tables, charts and images from a range of sources. In order to do this you should complete the following activities. In this task, you will be providing evidence to meet Pass 2, Pass 3, Pass 4 and Distinction 2 shown below.
Pass 2: Present complex internal business information using three different methods appropriate to the user’s needs Pass 3: Produce corporate communications Pass 4: Evaluate the external corporate communications of an existing product or service Distinction 2 – Evaluate the effectiveness of business communication as eye contributors to the success of an organization, using examples to illustrate your points Section 2. 1 (Pass 2) Choose a product or service offered by the business. Gather information from a range of sources that will help you look at key indicators of the sales and marketing performance of that product or service. Ask the following questions: How has it been marketed? How effective was the marketing? How does the business measure the effectiveness of its marketing? What are the sales figures? Task 3. 0 – The issues and constraints of Business information for organizations Date issued: w/c 01/11/10 Preliminary submission: w/e 19/11/10 Scenario The business has decided it is time to update the staff handbook, and it is aware that an increasing number of employees are handling data on a day-to-day basis. You have been asked to help by producing three sections of the handbook, either or the published handbook or the business intranet, on issues related to the use of information. In this task, you will be providing evidence to meet Pass 5, Pass 6 and Merit 2 shown below.
