Drinking and drinving is a very serious issue in the “driving world” Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teens. In 2010, 1 to every seven teens ages 16 to 19 died every day from motor vehicle injuries. Per mile driven, teen drivers ages 16 to 19 are three times more likely than drivers aged 20 and older to be in a fatal crash. All of this preventable! In 2010 about 2,700 teens in the United States aged 16–19 were killed and almost 282,000 were treated and released from emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor-vehicle crashes, Wow! In a recent year, people aged 16 to 24 were involved in 28 percent of all alcohol-related driving accidents, although they make up only 14% of the U.S. population.Young people are also over-represented in drinking driver injuries and deaths.
Fortunately, driving accidents have been declining among young people, just as they have among the general population. And deaths associated with young drinking drivers (those 16 to 24 years of age) are down dramatically, having dropped 47% in a recent 15-year period. There is a group called “MADD” (Mothers against drunk driving).is the nation’s largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking.
MADD also supports drunk and drugged driving victims and survivors. This organization is very helpful to mothers, Fathers anyone who has lost a loved one to drunk driving or who has become a victim to drunk driving. SADD -This group, SADD, which orginally stood for Students Against Driving Drunk, ( commonly transposed as Students Against Drunk Driving ), and is now called Students Against Destructive Decisions, is an informative alcohol and drug abuse prevention program for adolescents and young teens which helps redirect young student energy to more positive pastimes.
This organization wants to provide information about how to prevent accidents which are caused by drunk driving SADD has programs for teens that provide them with information to prevent drunk driving acidents and other helpful information like that. Something I could do to prevent drunk driving and drunk driving accidents from happening is start my own organization that provides helpful information about drunk driving and how dangerous it is. Another thing I can do to prevent drunk driving is talk to the younger and older people in my community and school about drunk driving and how dangerous it is, many people my age are at risk in becoming a victim at a drunk driving accident. I want to make the “Driving world” a safe place for teenagers and everybody else.
The less drunk driving accidents, The less deaths. I want to give teenagers my age the correct information about drunk driving and how it can be prevented. What I can personally do to make people aware of the issue and help solve it is inform people about drunk driving and the many ways to prevent drunk driving from happening. Some other things I can do is make a website on how many people die being a victim or being the cause of a drunk driving accident.
