Materials and Method: In order to set up the experiment, two 16 oz measuring cups were collected. One was labeled pure water and the other was labeled salt water. One cup of cold tap water was poured into both cups and two tablespoons of dizzied table salt was dissolved in the cup labeled salt water. After that, both cups were placed in the freezer. Every 1 5 minutes, the state of the water in the cups were observed and recorded until the water in both cups froze. This experiment was conducted three times for accuracy with the same materials and method.

A variation of this experiment was then set up to test the effect of freezing on sugar water. The same wow 16 oz measuring cups were used and one cup of cold tap water was poured in both cups. One cup was labeled pure water and the other was labeled sugar water. Then, two tablespoons of sugar was dissolved in the cup labeled sugar water. After that, both cups were placed in the freezer and the state of the water in both cups were observed and recorded every 1 5 minutes.
