A. Eminem life growing up was a difficult one, but it eventually led him to a rap career. 1. Eminem was born on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph Missouri. a. His real name is actually Marshal Bruce Mathers III. b. He grew up in Missouri until he was 12 and moved to Detroit with his mother Deborah Mathers 2. Eminem had a tough life in Detroit, but managed to get through it. c. Eminem failed ninth grade three times, before dropping out of school at the age of 17. d. Even though he failed out of school, he said he was always good at English. e.
During this time rap was dominated by African americans, which gave Eminem a great disadvantage. f. Despite his skin color, Eminem gained a lot of respect in numerous rap battles in Detroit, which eventually led to his discovery by Dr. Dre. 3. Throughout his life Eminem, had to fight not only in rap battles, but through family troubles as well. g. Eminems father abandoned him and his mom when Eminem was still and infant. h. Eminem tried to contact his father many times, but his father never wanted to talk to him. i. Eminems mother was addicted to prescription drugs, and subjected him to mental and physical abuse. . Eminems mother refuses any of his happened and sued her son for $10 million dollars, the case was settled for $25,000. Transition:Now that I talked about the life of Eminem growing up and how he got into rap, I will Now describe some of his personal life. B. The personal life of Eminem is one filled with problems. 1. It is widely known that Eminem experienced in many different drugs throughout his career. a. Eminem told vibe magazine about his drug abuse and gave the quote “It’s no secret I had a drug problem. Eminem and Kim split in 2000 and remarried in 2006, but divorced shortly after. f. Eminem and Kim went through an ugly custody dispute over Hailie. g. During this time Eminem slipped back into his alcoholism and addiction to pills, and almost died on an overdose in 2007.
