A. Eminem life growing up was a difficult one, but it eventually led him to a rap career. 1. Eminem was born on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph Missouri. a. His real name is actually Marshal Bruce Mathers III. b. He grew up in Missouri until he was 12 and moved to Detroit with his mother Deborah Mathers 2. Eminem tried to contact his father many times, but his father never wanted to talk to him. i. Eminems mother was addicted to prescription drugs, and subjected him to mental and physical abuse. .
