Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Only people who earn a lot of money are successful. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Definitely, I do not totally agree with the statement of title. However, the wealthy people are indeed a successful group. So let me discuss what the success includes, and then to get a conclusion. First is money. There are too many examples to tell, such as Bill Gates, Dell, the mayor of New York and more and more. Nobody doubts their successes. Besides them, there are many wealthy people in the world. Are they successful?

My answer is yes if they reach their goal with their endeavor. Money is a sign of their success, a result of their struggle, and fruit of their intelligence and knowledge. However, money is not everything. Some people earn their money but respect from our society. Dirty money gives them wealth, and it also gives them a guilty. Without respect, money means nothing. Second is reputation. Many people believe that fame brings money, but it isn’t always true. There are many famous people who are not rich. So many people and famous people earn a lot of money in their lives but still they don’t feel they are successful.

In my own opinion achievement is the criteria to measure success in life. History is full of people who were not very rich but still we admire them for their achievements. I think those are the real successful people. Mahatma Gandhi didn’t earned a lot of money in his life, led a very simple life but still today all Indians remember him. Why? Because he made people aware to fight for their rights and motivated them to make India free. And more, there are millions of famous scientists who are not rich by today’s standard, but they are the well-known successful in our society.

Wealth has become a common measure of success. However, I strongly disagree that wealth is an accurate measure of success. There are many ways of evaluating success. Two methods of evaluating someone’s success are by their accomplishments and whether they have contributed to society. For example, Albert Einstein was brilliant physicist known throughout the world for his theory of relativity. He is famous because of his theories and his developments in the field. While working on physics he was a patent clerk, a position that would never supply him with financial wealth.

His example can be seen throughout the world. University professors and researchers would simply not exist if everyone was concerned with wealth. Success is not only measured by wealth but in accomplishments, such as Einstein’s theories or new drugs developed through research. Mother Teresa was a nun that devoted her entire life to helping the poor in India. She won many awards for her struggle in trying to help the poor, but never kept any of the money awarded for her own personal gain. Her example is also followed by many people in social services.

Working for the government, especially in social services, will never make anyone millions. However, many university graduates willingly dedicate their careers to helping children. The feelings of abused children or those getting out of helpless situations are a contribution that should not be ignored. Whether someone earns a million dollars a year or more is a very short sighted method of evaluating success. Nowadays in social got a lot of illegitimate ways to earn money. When we meet someone who earns a lot of money, we should not conclude that they are a successful person.

We have firstly asked them from what they get all this money. Maybe they are just thrifts or they sell cocaine for other people. They really make money from this and we cannot consider them as successful person. In addition, there are a lot of people who are very successful even though they do not have enough money. For example, the medical researchers who spend most of their lives to make some studies and research in order to help the humanity. They are successful people because their proposal is important for the humanity. They can save a lot of lives and help a lot of people to survive.

We can say that they are not successful because they do not earn a lot of money. Lastly, there are other people who effectively earn a lot of money and are successful at the same time. But this success is not related to the money they earn but related to other thing. As an example the president of the country can earn a lot of money and he is a very successful person. His success does not has a relation with the money that he earns but with the decisions he makes to improve his country forward and help the citizens to have a good life in this country.

Some people think that the people who are earned a lot of money are successful because they can buy whatever they want. I think we are not successful when we can buy what we want but we are successful if we know what to make with the money we earn to keep this success. It is wonderful to earn a lot of money and being successful at the same time. However, we have to understand that earning a lot of money cannot absolutely to the success but the success can lead in most cases to earn a lot of money. As competitions are getting more and ore fierce, people are concerning about the problem of money more than ever before. I can’t deny the fact that money is something we depend on to raise family and get advanced education or so, but I also want to say that money is not everything. I totally disagree with the idea that only people who earn a lot of money are successful as some strongly hold, for success is not something you can measure simply by economic achievement. I believe that people who don’t have enough money can also be successful, even though their accomplishments are not shown with their payment.

Sometimes it is because their significance in society are not learned and understood by people for the very moment, but before long they might be a forever hero in people’s hearts. Take the world-famous painter Vincent Van Gogh for example. In his whole life, never did he have a slight chance to experience being a rich person, not even once. People at that time even teased him for his weird behaviour and they never paid real attention to his works. But what happened? He died for mental illness and poverty and soon after that; his works began to be appreciated by people.

For people like Van Gogh, their talent is the key to their success, not money. Someone say people who earn a lot of money are successful while others are thinking that living happily, having a warm family and staying healthy are the meaning of success. I do not think that any people who earn a huge amount of money are successful people. Success means more than money. Living happily does not cost a thing because no matter how large an amount of money cannot buy happiness. It comes in or disappears from life uncontrollably.

Many rich persons live in a luxurious big house with full, expensive furniture, which brings none of happiness to them. They donate their whole life, time, idea, and energy for jobs to make the highest income. In addition, they do not care for welcome any rest, stop, laugh or happiness and vice versa. Because wealthy persons work hard, they do not have any time to spend with their families such as playing with kids, talking to their spouse, having dinner with their families and so on. As a result, family’s relationship gradually erodes till it finally collapses.

Neither does warmth come to families, nor is good relationship available. We have seen most rich persons are not healthy because they are busy, restless, stressful and mal-nutritious. Even though they have assistants in office, sleep in a pleasant bed, see professional doctors and have delicious expensive food, they do not gain any well-being from their daily activities. A successful person gains respectability from the others. Someone is considered respectable is someone that is trustworthy- someone that people will follow to when they need someone to count on.

These characteristics usually have nothing to do with money. For instance, nobody would trust a guy who earns billions of money by cheating on his friends and no one would want to collaborate with a business owner who releases illegally his company’s waste to the river. People will look down on him and he cannot be a successful person. A successful person is someone who feels happy about his life. That is someone who always feels inspirable in his job and satisfies with his personal life. Otherwise, even walking along by gold, he cannot be the successful one.

A millionaire without knowledge does not have impact on people. As an extension of this, an IT teacher is known as a very successful person while he does not own a thousand of dollars. Actually, he is just a smart person who is expert in IT field. But he has a big influence in a huge number of people because he has delivered his knowledge to many generations of students. He, in my opinion, is successful person. Let me take another example who was an American inventor developed many devices that greatly influenced the life around the world including the electric light bulb.

Does anyone treat him as a failure? He is one of the most successful scientist and an inventor in the world. Does anyone going to argue on his success? Was money behind his success? Was he born to a rich family and therefore let him do all these inventions? No. There’s no relationship with money and his inventions. Of course his inventions made him rich. But no one say money made him success. Above are two great examples which support the fact that money is not a necessary factor for one to become success. Money could be a factor but it’s not the only one.

Throughout my life, I have fortunately seen a lot of people who have become successful. Those are not well-off, but they have a feeling of well-being. My beloved parents, for example, they feel quite happy because they have a good daughter and I myself do not add burden upon them. They also have good jobs and good health, which enables them to bolster their family up till now. Besides, although both of them do not have a lot of money, they still gain whatever they need, which makes them feel happiness in lives.

If I can earn a lot of money without knowledge and education, this money isn’t worth. Don’t just think about money. I believe that money is so important for us, but it is not the only precious thing for us, and to pursue the happiness in our career is more wisdom choice for us. In conclusion, success is everywhere. People who earn their respect and reputation are successful, and people can reach their goal by their endeavor are also successful. Money is a sign of success, but dirty money may lead you to a jail.

If the history is a good judge of success, then money isn’t everything. At last before achieving success it is really important to define success. One must know what success means to you. One’s you know that you know your path to success. And always remember success is not a destination it’s a journey which never ends. I believe no one wants to be wealthy persons who do not have an opportunity to live happily and healthily with families. In short, people who have a huge amount of money are not successful but people who live happily and healthily with warm families.
