Some trends are negative and some are positive. Trends are what kept American popular culture alive. Consumerism has helped popular culture in building the economy; however Consumerism can have negative consequences such as, pills, and prescription drug addiction. Studies have proved that certain pills can become deadly over time. Some over the counter pills have even been pulled off the market. Prescription drugs are advertised a variety of print media forums for just about any symptoms one might suffer from.

Some prescription drugs are highly addictive. Purchasing prescription drugs in the United States have grown quickly and widely accepted in today’s society. Making it acceptable to feed into the habit. The work place has been influenced by print media as well. Most companies use print media to do advertise their body of work. Without print media companies could not be able reach a large audience of people all over the world. Other organizations are also influenced by print media through print weather it is in magazines or online advertising.

People are affected by social responsibility. Some people believe that fitting into the norm is what popular culture demands are necessary. Popular culture is what creates an atmosphere for happiness. Some Americans live beyond their means; people do live a life of false happiness. The trends that have been develop through the constant print media of what is socially acceptable does influence people to want to live a certain lifestyle. These current trends were not always around and people lived a more humble and fulfilled life.

I believe that people are searching for happiness through negative advertisement and this does affect the psyche and the way it is being developed. Justice, law, and order are very necessary in today’s ever evolving society. Popular culture has shown society that when people are wealthy the law is more lenient. For example, the OJ Simpson case and the Michael Jackson trail. Both cases had actual proof of evidence that lead to both parties being guilty. However, with wealth comes power, with power being the dream team of attorneys they hired to somehow minimize the punishment they received.

In conclusion, print media has had a major impact on popular culture. The impact has affected American popular culture for the good and bad. Life should be about the small things we Americans take for granted. To value people for whom they are not what see physically. Americans should be able to decipher the pitfalls of print media and distinguish the good from the bad and make the right informed decisions. References Scribd (n. d. ). Trends in Print Media.
