The organizational structure can be considered as the viewing glass or perspective which individuals consider their organization and its environment as. It usually affects the organizational actions as well as the management operations (Jacobides, 2007; Ouchi, 1977; Buchanan and Huczynski, 2010). This report aims to discuss the organizational structure and to find out the relationship between the organizational structure and the organization operations, as well as the organizational culture. As one of the most famous multination enterprises in the world, McDonald’s has a special organization structure and culture which should be researched and studied by some other companies.

It is one of the most successful chain enterprises all over the world. So it can be seen as a representative objective of the chain enterprises when discussing the organization structure and culture of them. The main purpose of this report is to take the McDonald’s as example, to make a brief analysis of its organizational structure as well as its organizational culture, and based on which to find out the relationship between them.

IntroductionMcDonald’s is the leading global foodservice retailer with more than 33,000 local restaurants serving more than 64 million people in 119 countries each day. More than 80% of McDonald’s restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent local men and women (McDonald’s, 2011). It has owned many glories in the past years. For example in Fortune, McDonald’s ranked No. 1 among all companies for “Management Quality”, “Global Competitiveness” and “Use of Corporate Assets”, respectively.

It is also ranked No. 1 in the Food Services category. Besides, in Forbes, this company is believed as the Most Valuable Brands, Most Admired Companies and Most Inspiring Brands in 2010. As one of the most successful companies in the world, McDonald’s has its organization culture and structure which can be analyzed by the researchers and studied by some other enterprises.
