The Jacket by Gary Soto Analysis

Read Summary
Summary

In the story The Jacket by Gary Soto, the protagonist believes that his smelly jacket is ruining his life. He uses figurative language to describe the odor, comparing it to day-old guacamole. This story highlights the importance of being thankful for what we have and living in the present, rather than dwelling on the past. The narrator’s experience of being embarrassed by his jacket reminds me of a similar incident when I fell and got mud on my clothes. The story’s use of figurative language helps to bring the descriptions to life and make them more vivid. Overall, The Jacket is a well-written and engaging story that explores a relatable theme.

Sometimes you have to know to forget about the past and live the present. Gary sot thinks that his jacket stinked so bad “a jacket of dayold guacamole” it mad people run away , which ruined his life. Gary Soto explains this idea about be thankful for what u have which allows the reader to do an analysis of this story. This story reminds me of the time went to the mall and I fell and got mud all over me.

It smelled so bad and the worst part was had to wear it for a week and i was so embarrassed unlike the story in the story Gary Soto had got a green color jacket just like mine and he had to wear it for about 3 years and he was embarrassed. A nd This story probably had one of the best figurative language. This story has the best figurative language that have read probably with out its juice and detailed figurative language I would probably be lost in this story if it never had its figurative language and just by the way Gary Soto say ands explains it makes it and makes it pop out so u know that’s figurative language.

And poping out this story is like another story called eleven. In the story eleven a girl had to wear a smelly jacket that “smelt like cottage these” and it was on her birthday which made it Even worse and they embarrassed but the teacher made her cry in front of the whole class which was pretty meat up but she but she was embarrassed and Gary Soto was embarrassed over all it was a pretty good book.

This books was one of the best book some one can read it had a lot of everything which made it a good book. It had its bad parts which really didn’t have no bad parts it was a over all good book Maybe there was one or two bad parts but it didn’t effect the story from not being bad but Gary Soto does make really good books and this probably has to be one of the best.
