The Lamborghini Reventon made its debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show and is currently recognized as Lamborghini’s most powerful and expensive road car, priced at one million euros. The official press release states that only 20 of these cars will be made, with one destined for exhibition at the Lamborghini Museum. However, there have been reports suggesting a potential production of up to 100 Reventon vehicles. Following Lamborghini tradition, this car derives its name from a fighting bull owned by the Don Rodriguez family that gained infamy for fatally injuring renowned bullfighter Felix Guzman in 1943.
The term “Reventon” can have various meanings depending on its usage, including “explosion,” “burst,” or a type of blowout in the automotive context. Additionally, when used as the name of a bull, it serves as an adjective describing a specific quality. Therefore, Reventon can be interpreted as “he who is used to making things burst.”
In terms of design and mechanics, the Reventon has a completely new exterior design but shares many mechanical elements and its engine with the Mucilage LP640. The inspiration for its exterior styling came from the F-22 Raptor aircraft. Initial reports suggest that there may be a power boost of around 10 horsepower (7.5 kW) for the 6.L V12 engine, resulting in an output of 650 horsepower.
Despite these enhancements and carbon fiber components, the Reventon achieves the same acceleration time as the Mucilage LP640 (3.3 seconds) when reaching speeds of 100 km/h (62 mph). Its top speed exceeds 340 kilometers per hour (211.3 mph).
The instrument panel in the Reventon features three TFT liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with two different display modes. These instruments are housed within a structure made from carved aluminum and protected by a casing made of carbon fiber.
The G-Force-Meter is a new feature of the Reventon. It showcases various drive forces, such as longitudinal acceleration during acceleration and braking, as well as transversal acceleration around bends. These forces are displayed through an indicator on a 3D grid that moves based on the direction and intensity of the acceleration. Formula One teams also utilize a similar device for analyzing dynamic forces. The driver can easily switch to a second display that shows the traditional circular instruments, including a speedometer and tachometer, by pressing a button.
The central feature of this display mode continues to be the G-Force-Meter. Lamborghini has also adopted some design elements from its parent company Audi. The Reventon is the first Lamborghini to integrate daylight running lights into its headlamps. Each headlamp is equipped with seven Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) that accompany the Bi-Xenon main beam and remain illuminated when the car is in motion. In order to withstand the high temperatures in the rear lower section of the vehicle, special heatproof LEDs are utilized for the indicator and hazard lights, stoplights, and rear lights, which create a triple arrow visual effect.
