The country from the smell of fresh air and the always cool air. From all the outside activities to the inside memories and many animals, there is nothing better than your childhood home. The Old White House on the Corner. There’s an old white house on the corner of Fannin Street and that is wherel grew up. The big porch and sandy front yard where all my toys lay is where I have the most memories. The home had many rooms where I grew up. What I remember most about my childhood is the house on the corner I called home. The chipped white paint home with a wooden porch and black door is what I called home for a long time. The tin roof with the big antenna on the right side wasn’t hard to spot. The house on the corner amongst many evergreen trees with sand in the yard for me and my cousin to play in. The smell of fresh country air fills your nose as soon as you step outside.
There are four pastors around my home, one in front, counter corner, to the left, and to the right. Out of the four two of them belong to us. The one on the right of my home had three childhood horses who were named Ed, Eddy, and Brownie. Being thatl was always scared of the horses I never played with them. I mostly played in my front yard with my cousin. Not only did I have a big front yard, I had yard space all around my home. When I was a baby my grandpa and grandma bought a lot of sand in dumped in our front yard so I can play in it. Then when I was old enough that’s when my cousin would come over and build sand castles with me. The best part of having sand in your front yard is the soft feeling between your fingers and toes. As the yard space wrapped around the left side of the house, there was a space the size of a football field and flat plain like one.
My cousin and I usually played football and cheerleading, baseball, tag, or kickball. The back yard really wasn’t that big and mostly was made up ofa back porch with an attached washroom. Then there was a clothesline that we never used. Behind the clothes line was a six-compartment bunny cage that was full of soft white bunny rabbits with scary pink eyes. On the right of our home were big trash bags full of soda can that we collected from my grandma and the entry to the horse pen. All the animals being on one side, there was always a zoo aroma. We also lived next to a busy street where all you hear is nonstop traffic all day and night. There’s a different memory for every room in my childhood home that I will always remember. Walking through our big wooden front door you enter an 16ft ceiling with a wide ceiling fan.
There was a lot of pictures along the walls that included at least one photo of every family member. The old wooden floors creaked as you walked down the hall to my bedroom which I shared with my sister. Sharing a room was such a tough situation even though the room was big enough to have two beds, two dressers, and two closets. The situation was me and my sister are two very different people. My side had pink boas and homecoming mum down the wall with a pink bedding to match. My sister had blue everywhere with a sporty print including balls, rackets, and bats. As you walk out of our room and into the kitchen there is a huge wooden table with a big bowl of apples and oranges.
There was always an apple cinnamon candle lit in our black and white tiled kitchen. As you look around at the painted white cabinets and the gas stove you could feel the love. What I remember most about my childhood is the house on the corner I called home. I may not have grown up in a mansion but I loved my old white home always know when I’m back at my home in the country from the smell of fresh, cool air. All the outside activities to the inside memories and many animals there is nothing better than my childhood home.
