Within abortions, there were numerous causes of death and countless acts of engagement at odds with both Pro-life and Pro-choice supporters. Due to this emotional topic it is very strenuous to find a solution that the global could agree upon whether that abortion should be legal or illegal. This research will provide an overview on what is abortion from a legal viewpoint; as well as introducing what is Pro-life and Pro-Choice, and answering the question is abortion morally wrong or right?
What is abortion? Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy that is normally performed during the first trimester of a human pregnancy. Abortion uses a medical or surgical method to remove the embryo, and placenta from the uterus. During the medical procedure it is require that the patient takes two type of medications mifepristone and misoprostol. “ Mifepristone is used to block hormone progesterone , causing the lining of the uterus to thin, and preventing the embryo from staying implanted and growing(Planned Parenthood 1)”. This pill you take while you are at the clinic to begin the abortion process. The second pill Misoprostol is taken to cause to uterus to extract forcefully pushing out the embryo through the vagina. This pill is taken at home the next day after the patient has received the Mifepristone pill. The Misoprostol pill you take a total of four pills at the same time. You must put two sets on each side of your gums and cheeks letting the pills dissolve in your mouth for exactly 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes are up the patient must swallow the dissolved pills and drink water to push the rest of what is left in your mouth to continue with the process.
Induced abortion has been one major discussed issues of the world today because this is the most intentional form termination of pregnancy before the embryo is fully form. At times, most abortions are induced at the 20 weeks mark when the fetus has developed body parts such as hands, arms and fingers. Overtime in many countries such as India and China abortion has been a form of a birth control conception. The United States law permits a doctor to perform an abortion and as a result he or she will not be known as committing a crime. The law basically says that states cannot ban abortion and woman have a choice to maintain the health of their life. To explain, the woman physical, mental , and emotional health is taken for charge. If the woman feel as her life will be ruin if she is forced to hold a child that she can not take care of she is obligated to receive an abortion, simply because raising a child without stability is quite worse than having an abortion. To add on, the law is stating that any woman who does not want her unborn child after the sixth and seventh month of pregnancy she is allowed to terminate it. At this point anywhere in the united states abortions are now legal to be performed.
From 1973-2019 the nation has killed more than thirty million unborn babies since the wade v. roe case when the supreme court legalized abortion. Out of all countries the U.S has one of the greatest numbers in abortion rate next to Holland. According to the 2015 CDC report more than 25% of abortions are chemical and nearly 75% of abortions are surgical. 44% of abortions that was done in the U.S had a previous abortion before. 86% of woman who had an abortion were unmarried and 46% of abortions were performed on women who was under the age of 24. According to Planned Parenthood, “ Almost about 15,000 abortions are attributed to rape and incest- representing 1.5 percent of all abortions(Focus on the family 1).”
In most cases studies does shows that more than half of families of women who gets abortions earns more than 30,000 a year, which goes against the legend that women have abortions because they are poor. In the article A study of suffering after abortion by Priscilla K Coleman shows that 8 weeks after an termination researchers found out that 36% of woman have sleep disturbances, 31 % regret even having an abortion and 11% was prescribed drugs to cope.
There are two side of supporters the Pro-life and Pro-Choice. The Pro-Choice believers believe that woman have the right to make their own decision based on their bodies. The Pro-life believe that and embryo has the right to live and there should not be a choice to make over a individuals life. What is life if you do not have the right to live? Pro-Life believes that there are other ways to save a child life other than aborting it. For example, giving the child up for adoption. Pro-life believes that abortion should be illegal and not supported by the government, instead; the government should be protecting the babies. In the article Pro-life Vs Pro-choice states, “The pro-choice movement argues that in pregnancies before the point of viability—when the fetus can’t live outside the womb—the government doesn’t have the right to impede a woman’s decision to terminate the pregnancy.” Pro-choice believes in the well being of women. In the article What Does It Mean To Be Pro-choice states,”Being pro-choice means understanding that healthy women and healthy pregnancies are both independent values in society, and that women who choose to be pregnant or to carry a pregnancy to term deserve quality pre- and post-natal care, choices in childbirth, and choices in childcare in accordance with their life decisions”. The pro-choice believes deeply in abortion, especially if the woman was harmed or in anytype of danger like rape or disrupted pregnancies.
Throughout the world there is a big debate whether abortion is a wrongful act or is it just a choice for someone life. However, a statement or one’s own opinion is neither right or wrong, but is simplify left for clarification.
In conclusion abortions are performed all over the united states and the globe and it causes many women to choose whether to start a life as a mom, or to continue to live a normal life as an non-existing parent.
