Who is going to make a change? The Congress? The Government? The States? We should have a voice, be heard and not simply told what is expected of us.
Government shouldn’t only have the power but the people too. This is clearly stated in the Declaration by Thomas Jefferson, The Bill of rights by James Madison, United States Constitution by James Madison and in “Abigail Adams”. This has and continues to help the government be guided, as it has made it more stable for the people. Although, in The Declaration of Independence it states “…That all men are created equal…” in 1776 I personally believe those words were not true. Many were treated unequal Thomas Jefferson owned many slaves possible about 300, many were men. To make it clear they were “black people”, according to Thomas Jefferson “…ALL men are created equal…” except this didn’t apply to “black” slaves. Considering the negativity that came from The Declaration of independence many great things as well came from it. For the public it gave them “…life liberty and the pursuit of happiness…,” therefore the Government cannot do as they wish they have boundaries that may not be broken. The government formed a strong lasting union “…it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government…” they are given power, if they do not like something they can make a stand and make a difference. With this document the colonies declare themselves independent. If all men are created equal then why are “Blacks” not given equal rights as others? When it is written in the Declaration of Independence so therefore should be followed.
What is the Bill of rights? What impact did it have for us? It gave people more rights “It contains rights designed to guarantee individual freedom, several of which apply to criminal procedure”, this is stated in Crisis magazine. The Bill of Rights gave a whole other meaning to the world. Gave people the ability to think for themselves and choose as they wanted without been judged. This applies to us now but many don’t really know the meaning of it. In the first Amendment it mentions that “…freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly, petition….” If we did not have this Amendment we would be able to protest, have the right to choose who and what we want to be, there wouldn’t be christians, catholics excetera. These Amendments have to continue on because every single one makes a huge difference to society. No one wanted to sign the Constitution if there was no bill of rights. The reason for that was those 10 amendments brought more peace and ability to do as wanted even if there was certain consequences. The Bill of Rights was approved “…On December 15, 1791, Virginia became the 10th of 14 states to approve 10 of the 12 amendments, thus giving the Bill of Rights the two-thirds majority of state ratification necessary to make it legal….” This day was the day people got more power.
How did it form a strong long-lasting union? What rights did individuals receive? It is long lasting as it benefits the citizens and the president. The people recieved “…The president and the vice president are chosen by the electors, who are usually picked by the state legislatures…” they were allowed to choose for themselves. Many benefits were brought for the President as he “…executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America…” he had much of the power. The power was balanced out with the people as well. This was to protect the unalienable rights of all men. The past many things weren’t stables “…The Declaration established the protection of individual rights as a founding principle for the new government….” They made it so the people get more rights and freedom.
Who was Abigail Adams? What impact did she make? She was a strong women with a voice, independent as well she believed in everything she did. Laws were broken trying to achieve as she wanted. She did what others were scared to do Abigail was a “voice” to all women around.
She was supported by her husband “…Her husband’s involvement in politics meant he was frequently gone from home. During the American Revolution she was often left in charge of all the household responsibilities which not only included raising their children but also handling business dealings such as purchasing land, selling crops, and tenant interactions….” She never gave up until her goal was achieved even thought she didn’t achieve all she would have wanted she did achieve a voice for women. From there on women noticed her work and spoke us got more rights nor liberty as they wanted. Abigail “…She was a strong believer in women’s rights. In fact she wrote to the Continental Congress, as they worked on forming the United States government, to ‘remember the ladies’…” helped remember to all men and society that women are capable of way more then how they were labeled in society just stay at home moms who knew nothing and had no knowledge in life.
All these topics contained similarities the Declaration, The Bill of rights, United States Constitution and in “Abigail Adams” these made a huge impact to the world. They were remembered by what big change they made to the world. That Leed many people around the world have a voice as we do today in this century. We are free to stand for what we want for what we believe. I personally think without them making the first big step and opening new windows for us all we possible would not be where we are today. I do have to say women need to stand up more as they are constantly put down saying they can’t do a man’s job because only “Men” can we are all capable of so much. Many helped shape the constitution as it is today. The constitution “it creates a national government consisting of a legislative, an executive, and a judicial branch, with a system of checks and balances among the three branches. Second, it divides power between the federal government and the states…” this allows for them not have so much control.
