Cocklebur watch over the Valley Ashes. “God knows what you’ve been doing, everything you’re been doing. You may fool me, but you can’t fool God! Standing behind him, Michaels saw with a shock that he was looking at the eyes of Doctor T. J. Cocklebur. “(1 52) George relates the eyes to the eyes of god, however if this is the representation of the eyes of God watching over them, then George has a sad and faded relation to what God is. These eyes are just sitting watching everyone, and are not helping the characters throughout the novel. The eyes of T. J.

Cocklebur can also symbolize the way Nick looks at the people of West Egg and the valley of ashes. Nick understands what goes on throughout everyone’s’ lives and does not judge them, just like the eyes, they simply just watch over the characters, and do not do anything about their actions. Gatsby Mansion “l thought of the night when I first came to his ancestral home. ” (147) Gatsby mansion symbolizes wealth. His house is just an illusion the life Gatsby really has. Gatsby house was used for Gatsby to get the attention from the wealth to impress Daisy.

The mansion is located in East Egg and Tom and Daisy’s house is located in West Egg, these locations show the difference between the newly rich and the old rich respectively. The characters of East Egg, buy their happiness and chose to bully the people around them, like how the Buchanan bought a new house far away to get away from everything that happened. The characters of West Egg, who are newly rich still respect others around them, and do not buy their happiness through life, like when Gatsby waited outside Daisy house in the rain to make sure she was okay ND stayed just in case she needed him.

Since Gatsby shows love end compassion in this novel, but those are the reasons why Gatsby was killed, he took the blame that he run over Myrtle so that Daisy would be okay, and Tom informs Mr.. Wilson that it was Gatsby that was driving. Throughout the novel, Gatsby was well liked by the people when he threw extravagant parties, however by the end Of the novel when Gatsby funeral was held; no one was there to honor Gatsby life. The Green Light: The green light is seen faintly from Gatsby dock that is located on Daisy.

The green light represents hope, money and dreams for Gatsby. The green light helps Gatsby plan towards the future, and symbolizes Gatsby American Dream to get Daisy back, however the light is too far away and impossible to catch, which represents how Gatsby and Daisy relationship was like. Nick suggests that this green light is how American would like to the early settlers of the new nation. Gatsby dream is destroyed when Tom and Daisy move away, which is just like how the American dream is not possible. Gatsby tried to fix the past but Nick knave,’ that he could not relive it.
