I hope you understand my extemporaneous speech about “Teenage Pregnancy”. The amount of teenage getting pregnant around the age of 15-17 is quite concerning . Although most Teenage Pregnancies are unintentional . It still means there are chances of them becoming pregnant. At the same time, Teenage Pregnancies associate with social issues. Finally they come to a time when they need help and support. Well , My name is Jayson and by now you should know my speech will be about Teenage Pregnancy. Firstly most teenage pregnancies are unintentional.
Women of all age may have unintended pregnancies , but some groups , such as teens are at a higher risk. A lot of teenagers who become pregnant sometimes wish they weren’t. This happens because they either don’t want to be parents or they know it’s not the right time. By the time they find out they are pregnant they start stressing out because it was never meant to happen and also because they don’t want their parents to know or to find out. Teenage Pregnancies associate with social issues , such as lower educational levels and higher rates of Poverty.
This happens because when they are pregnant they drop out of school and just worry about their baby. Although they are unemployed they go on a benefit which is when money is given by the government. Why do the young mums still lead a poor life inspite of money given by the government ? Well , they lead poor life because they don’t think about the future , instead they spend all their money on their child. They don’t save up any money and they keep buying things for themselves and their child.
Finally they come to a time when they need help and support with their child. They need support with their child so they live a happy life and they need support from their family so that they dint get stressed out and start abusing their baby, and they also need help with buying the right items such as nappies , food, clothes etc. In conclusion, Teenage Pregnancy need to decrease as it is making NZ look very bad because the rate of Teenage Pregnancy is the highest in NZ as compared to other countries in the world.
In the end I would like to say that teenagers should stay in school and study so that they have a brighter future and can give a very dignified life to their families. You’ve heard the probable causes of teen pregnancy. You’ve heard some statistics. But you haven’t heard the risks of adolescent pregnancy. The risks are great, pregnancy has never been a walk in the park for any one, teenagers especially. Pregnant teens and their unborn babies have a list of unique medical risks, one of the most crucial being the lack of prenatal care.
Teenage girls who get pregnant–especially those who don’t have support from their parents–are at risk of getting inadequate prenatal care. Birth defects are a common result of neglecting prenatal care. Another risk of teen pregnancy is high blood pressure, also known as “pregnancy-induced hypertension. ” Because of the immaturity of the teenaged development, they are more at risk than women in their 20’s and 30’s. Other risks to brush over lightly that are to be taken seriously are premature births, low-birth-weight baby, STD’s, postpartum depression, and feeling alone and isolated.
There are high risks with teenage pregnancy, it’s not just harmful for the mother and father, and it also can have affect to the mental side of a teenage girl. The risks are greater for a pregnant underage girl and it is almost guaranteed that there will be serious birth complications to the new born and mother. It is quite common for miscarriages to happen because of the underdeveloped mother and this can lead to physiological problems after losing the baby.
There are a lot of statistics about the decline of contraception, and the amount of teenagers getting pregnant amongst Year 10 and Year 12 students. Different texts, stories, documentaries and videos all display teenage pregnancy as wrong and irresponsible because the parents of the baby are either in financial difficulty, socially disadvantaged or are simply too undeveloped to carry and hold a baby. The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the western world with approximately 1 million adolescents becoming pregnant every year.
Teenage mothers tend to have insufficient prenatal care. Mothers and unborn children suffer from malnutrition because of lack of information and lack of money. Teenagers tend to slack on prenatal doctors’ visits causing less screening for potential problems and less preparation and counseling. Mothers do not received counseling on the actual birthing process. Important information on appropriate behavior for the mother is not received like smoking, drinking and drugs. Decreased prenatal care has many negative effects on children.
Babies born to women under the age of twenty are more likely to die in the first year after birth. The infant mortality rate of babies born to teen mothers is 9. 7 deaths per 1000 live births. Diminished care can result in future developmental delays 1. Many problems arise when teenagers raise babies. The Majority of teen moms are unmarried and undereducated resulting of lower income, lack of nutrition, difficulty obtaining childcare and decreased options of continuing education. High rates of poverty are often resulting unsafe feeling, low self-esteem and low self-efficiency.
None or limited paternal involvement might negatively affect the baby and minimal emotional support for mother. Decreases degree of maternal role satisfaction of lowers Self-esteem. Teenagers often lack experience, less verbal, less responsive to child’s needs like cognitive and emotional feelings . Teenagers are dealing with many issues of their own loss of own childhood possible loss of friends and social support dealing with their child’s behavior to learning how to discipline them. That’s all thank you!
