In both cities and towns you can go out on a weekend and see a movie or go to a bar. Only in cities can you go too world renowned art museum or an amusement park. Yet in small towns, you can go Just about anywhere and see people you know. Now, the city might seem like an obvious choice when it comes to entertainment. But I believe it can also be argued that after you’ve lived in a city for awhile the attractions start to lose their appeal and you could Just want a quite relaxing night. Transportation is where I think cities have a major downfall.

As someone who has lived in one of the largest cities in America, I have had to deal with the traffic and public transportation. Living there it could take me over an hour in heavy traffic to simply get too restaurant across town. If you are not a fan of driving, the city might not be for you. On the other hand, living in a small town it only takes me about 10 minutes to get anywhere in town, even during rush hour. There is also no public transportation in small town, which doesn’t affect me but I’m sure having public remonstration is a perk for many people.

What I believe to be the main point of debate between the two lifestyles is happiness. Do people in big cities or small towns experience less stress? A recent study published in the Journal Urban Geography found that subjects living in a small town were significantly happier than those living in a large urban city. One of the reasons they found for this happiness gradient was that people living big cities had a lack of intimate personal relationships.
