1. The executive summary: Write an Executive Summary of the course (2- 3 paragraphs) that addresses the following questions:
– Which content and assignments in this course improved your understanding of managing people and fostering collaboration within your organization (or one with which you are familiar)?
– What impact has your improved understanding had or (what do you anticipate it will have) on the value you will bring to your role within an organization?
The content and assignments in this course have altered my perception of the manager’s role in the organization and how I approach management and collaboration. They have also impacted my current goals and will likely shape my future goals. This course has also helped me understand the important role managers play in promoting positive social change within the organization and beyond.
After reviewing the article by Christensen (2010) and reflecting on what you have learned in the course, develop a strategy that will help you become the person described in ‘Your Sentence” from Week 3 in both your professional and personal life. Within your strategy, address the following inquiries: How can I ensure my career brings me happiness and that I achieve my aspiration of becoming a successful manager? How can I establish enduring happiness in my relationships with my spouse/partner and family?
How can I ensure that I maintain my personal integrity in ethically challenging or morally ambiguous situations? (Hint: Many individuals believe they are ethical and would not compromise their personal integrity. However, what actions would you take if your employer requests you to carry out a task or make a decision that you find ethically uncomfortable (but is not illegal), and refusing to do so would put your job security, potential promotion, or upcoming salary increase at risk?)
When confronted with unexpected outcomes resulting from a task or policy executed with good intentions, it is crucial to deeply contemplate how to rectify them and uphold one’s moral principles. This entails contemplating morally ambiguous scenarios, potential personal ramifications, and addressing any previous misdeeds. To actively strive for personal and professional growth, an individual should devise a comprehensive action plan for a fresh objective.
Your action plan should include the following: your specific goal for professional and personal development, along with a justification for selecting this goal. Be sure to provide tangible and precise examples of why this goal holds significance, how it empowers you to bring about positive societal transformation, the personal or professional benefits you anticipate from accomplishing it, and its correlation to the resources covered in the course.
The goal you have identified should have at least two objectives. You should provide a rationale that explains how your objectives support the goal. Your BGP, including the Executive Summary, strategy, and action plan, should be 3-6 pages total (1-3 pages if single spaced). Refer to the Week 8 Individual Reflection Rubric for grading elements and criteria.
