Every creature here on earth takes part in keeping our environment circulated. Even a small creature, like bees, gives an important role in our ecosystem. Bees are hymenopterous insects of the family Apoidea, solitary or social in habit, with smooth or hairy bodies, variously colored, and feeding largely upon nectar and pollen. Bees are usually live in a beehive, a place for a colony of honey bees and most of the time, busy bee workers. The bee movie shows how important bees are in our ecosystem, how they help our environment to have more plants/flowers.
Bees have characteristics that can do pollination, a process of transferring pollens from anthers to stigmas. Barry B. Benson, the main character in the movie, who lives in a hive in Sheep Meadow Central Park in New York City, is an average bee who recently graduated from Bee College. After the graduation, they are about to enter the hive’s Honex Industries. Barry, together with his best friend Adam Flayman, is excited for knowing what work they will have in the future.
They were disappointed especially Barry because they will have only one job for their entire life.
Barry feels he has the skills to pursue a number of different career paths and he doesn’t want to circulate his life in doing one thing. Upon touring, Barry was amazed by the pollen jocks. Pollen jocks are the bees that work outside their hive, collecting pollens and nectars of flowers. He decided to join pollen jocks. He was a little bit afraid but it didn’t drive him to back out because of his willingness. When they are already outside the hive, in Manhattan, while pollen jocks are doing their job, he enjoys his new freedom, and totally impressed by the process of nectar collection and pollination.
But because of curiosity, he touched a tennis ball and he was stocked into it. The ball where Barry was stocked was used in a game that leads him to be nervous and panic. He was thrown away going to a car where a family became panicked after they saw Barry. After that incident, he concluded that humans are crazy and that he should go home. Unfortunately, it begins to rain and he crash lands on a windowsill. The apartment’s occupants have just come home and they close the window before Barry can escape.
After freaking out the people inside and nearly being squashed, but his life was saved by Vanessa Bloome, a florist in New York City, and he was gently put back outside. . This unexpected act of kindness intrigues Barry, who goes back in to thank the woman even though doing so violates Bee Law #1, “Don’t talk to humans”. They become friends and Barry makes the shocking discovery that human beings eat honey in mass quantities. Having finally found his calling in life, Barry decides to sue the human race for stealing all of the honey that his fellow bees work so hard to produce.
Bees won the case, that lead them to have all the honeys in the world. Montgomery warns them they are disrupting nature’s balance meaning that the bees quit their jobs, which Adam comments to Vanessa that it might be true since bees had been living their previous lives over 27 million years. Barry and Vanessa were too late to realize that Montgomery was right. Massive stockpile of honey has put every bee out of a job, including the vitally important Pollen Jocks. Without bees pollinating the flowers, all plant life begins dying with the entire food chain close behind.
To set things right, he and Vanessa find a way to save all the flowers by going to the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California and bringing back with them all the pollen-filled flowers to re-pollinate the world. Barry and Vanessa fly the flowers as luggage on a flight from Los Angeles International Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport. Barry tried to talk to the pilot of the plane but he accidentally knocks out the terrified pilots. Vanessa joins him and tries unsuccessfully to fly the plane.
In the meantime, millions of bees have rallied and arrive at the last minute to help them safely land. Armed with the pollen of the last flowers, Barry and the Pollen Jocks manage to reverse the damage and save the world’s flowers, restarting the bees’ beloved honey production. Barry becomes a member of the Pollen Jocks while Adam is working as a krelman. It was a fantastic movie, having memorable characters, goods gags and most important is its lessons. The lessons that the movie have is applicable to our life. Bees are important in our environment.
Bees in the movie also show different personalities that we can be related. There should be a balance in nature for us to have a normal situation. Think for the consequences before you complain is one of the lessons in the movie. We can’t go back to the past to correct our wrong decisions, but we can do something in present to change it to have a right future. Caring for our nature and is also a lesson here. The florist, Vanessa helped Barry not to be killed by a guy (boyfriend of Vanessa). Barry was so amazed by the kindness of Vanessa.
That part of the movie shows that even an insect, like bee, we should give an importance to them because they help our environment to be balance, in a way that they help by the process of pollination. We can change the visions of someone that thinks all insects are just pests in our nature. This can also be seen in this movie. A simple scene, like the parents of Barry are asking him about his plans for his future, is just like any scenario in our life. Our parents care for us, and in that scenario can explain that.
