To supervise and support the team of Room Leaders and Room Assistants in the running of the service. To identify, provide and implement all staff training programmer/schedules, including staff personal development.
To provide, encourage and enhance team building / team dynamics. To conduct regular staff meetings to discuss service issues. To liaise with all Parents / Careers who are the primary careers of the children and ensure they are always welcome in the service. To liaise with any outside agencies who may be involved with the service in any form. To oversee the planning, implementation and reviewing of activities / programmer appropriate to the individual and group needs of the children attending the service. This should be done in conjunction with the Room Leaders.
To oversee the compilation and updating of all children’s records. To ensure that all health and safety requirements are in place and maintained at all times. To ensure a positive approach to discipline is maintained within the service at all times. To administer first aid. To perform such other duties appropriate to the office of Childcare coordinator as may be assigned by the Board of Directors. Room leader The organization and day to day running of the room providing a stimulating and varied programmer of play, and ensuring the well-being of the children.
Planning, implementing and reviewing all developmental programmer so as o provide for the children’s physical, emotional, social, linguistic and cognitive development ensuring other staff members participation in this. The leader should formulate a daily routine for the children which offers a wide variety of play activities, but allows for flexibility as the situation / occasion / child demands. The following should be provided at each session (depending on age group): sand, water, paint, dough / clay, books and stories music and nature and opportunities for adventure play, manipulative play, home-corner, and outdoor play.
The leader should ensure all preparation is complete before the children arrive; ensuring provisions of basic play materials. The leader should create a friendly relaxed atmosphere, which establishes in the children a feeling of security, confidence, and trust. The leader should be ready to welcome the children when they arrive. Together with the Manager the leader plays a role in identifying special needs and planning for appropriate interventions either within the services provided or by other professional people. Working as part of a team.
Liaising with parents together with the Manager. Together with the Manager, liaising on an official basis with representatives o organizations e. G. The Health Services Executive. Observing all procedures as required in terms of care and control, safety and good childcare practice. Liaising with Manager in relation to purchasing, organizing and maintaining o equipment and materials. The leader should keep up to date records in adherence to Pre-school regulations 2006. Provide weekly records for the Manager. Together with the Manager, organize and implement staff appraisals.
Together with the Manager, the leader may organize / support any special projects, fundraising outings and visits. The leader should attend such meetings and training courses as are necessary to keep up-to-date with developments in the area of early childhood care and education. The Leader will participate in the training programmer of students by giving general guidance and support or acting as a mentor for them. The Leader will maintain confidentiality at all times and instill awareness in all staff of the importance of confidentiality in all matters.
The Leader will adhere to and implement the policies and procedures of the service.
