“I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not and to live within the warmth of your heat and always call it home. ” vowed Faith. After hearing that heartfelt vow be spoken, tears rolled down my cheek. I was attending my cousin, Faith’s wedding. Faith and i are pratically sisters, both being only children. About six months ago, we were on a family vacation in New York City during winter.
We invited Faith’s boyfriend, Ian, along as he was like family to us. During the trip, Faith and i decided to have some ‘sister’ time. We went to the spa and talked. She about how she has dated Ian for two years and she was just dying for him to pop the question. I could never get Faith to stop talking about how she met Ian and how the whole family adores him. Ian is a lovely young man who would do anything for her. Later that evening, Ian and Faith decided to have dinner on their own. We heard the door opening at around 11pm, we were all watching in my parents hotel room.
About a minute later, Faith rushed into the room babbling so fast we could hardly understand her. After she calmed down a bit, i giggled guessing it was about Ian, and so I asked her what was going on. ‘I’m engaged!! ” she replied with tears in her eyes. From that day on, arrangements for the wedding were made. I was lucky to be part of the whole process. From the flower arrangements to the cake design to the loaction. As Faith is an only child, she got to have an extravagant wedding. The wedding was held on a beach in Santa Monica on a breezy afternoon. It was beautiful.
As i was one of her bridesmaids i got to wear a pale lavender dress with a pretty flowered headband. Ian was smartly dressed in his black tuxedo. Everyone was in awe as we watched Faith walk down the aisle with her father. She was wearing a gorgeous white wedding gown with her tiara and veil on her head. She looked stunning. After the exchange of vows, they were finally, after so long, pronounced husband and wife. We are all so elated for the both of them. I believe that was the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to and I was blessed to be part of it.
