Avril had no plans on working with producers and professional writers. Avril wrote most of the album “Under My Skin” with Canadian singer songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk. Avril and Kreviazuk became good friends back in 2003. Many of the tracks on this album were recorded in Malibu. Avril’s third album was “The Best Damn Thing”. It was released on the 13th April 2007. It was the fourth top selling album worldwide and song BMG’s top selling album of 2007. The album was certified platinum on the 15 June 2007. It has sold over five million copies.

This album is the third consecutive number one album in the UK charts and her second on the U. S billboard 200. The first single to be released from this album was “Girlfriend”, which reached the top of the charts in twelve different countries and was Avril’s first number one on the billboard hot 100. Four singles where released from the album and also “Keep Holding On” which was featured in the 2006 film “Eragon”. Avril said while touring that her favorite songs to sing while singing live are her more upbeat songs such as “st8er boi”.

After saying this on one of her tours it made her decision that “The Best Damn Thing” wouldn’t have many mid-tempo songs and instead would feature more energetic songs. Avril describes this album as “fast, fun, young, bratty, rock, aggressive, confident, and cocky… all the good stuff”. Many of the songs on the album don’t have a deep meaning to Avril. The album was helped produced by Dr Luke, Batch Walker, Avril, her husband at the time Deryck Whilbey from sum 41 and Travis Barker of blink 182. Also +44 recorded some drums for the album, so did Josh Freese. The best damn thing can’t be described in just a few genres.

There is a list. The genres that the best damn thing is described by are teen pop, pop, pop rock, pop-power, alternative rock, pop punk, punk and rock. Goodbye lullaby is the fourth upcoming album from Avril which will be released on the 8th of March 2011. Lavigne started recording this album in 2008 only a month after completing the best damn thing tour. She started with black star, which helped her promote her fragrance “Black Star”. She did a short theme that would be used for the television shots for the promotion. “Black Star” was composed in the Malaysian hotel she was staying at on her tour.

The theme was than expanded into a full song and rolling stones magazine described as “an ethereal lullaby that turns epic with tinkling Coldplay like pianos and soaring strings”. Recorded began with Avril just singing to acoustic guitar with additional instruments added later. Several of the songs on this album such as “darling” and “everybody hurts”. “Darlin” was the second song she wrote at the age of fifteen while living in Napanee, Ontario. This album is different from Lavigne others albums, it’s not all over the place, its more consistent all the way through.
