James Charles started his youtube channel mainly focusing on makeup on December 1, 2015. One of his best friends were late to a makeup appointment so she asked him if he could do it, he said yes and it ended up turning out good! Before he knew it he started doing others makeup and started practicing on himself. He first started off on doing hair, his dad actually taught him how to braid hair. He took his yearbook picture and did not like how it came out, so retook it and brought his studio lights and retook them to properly accentuate his cheekbones. He then posted a picture of the picture he retook and it went viral. He also then became Covergirl’s first Coverboy in 2016 at the age of 17. He bought his first car and house at the age of 19 ( right now ). He also came out with a makeup pallet that is selling out really fast and is very pigmented!
Early Life / Early Career
James was born on May 23, 1999, in Bethlehem, New York. James came out to his parents in middle school when he was 12. His parents accepted him immediately. His parents originally thought because he loved and did makeup, he was transgender. James explained to them that he just loved doing makeup. It took a ton of explaining and understanding because men in makeup was a new concept at the time. James has a younger brother named Ian Dickinson, they live together in Los Angeles, California. James loved to draw and sing, he still does both right now and has gotten a lot better with both. James also can’t see without corrective lenses. He does wear glasses most of the time, if not then he usually wears contacts. He graduated from Bethlehem Central High. James Charles is very smart, he graduated early with a 4.0. He also had his slogan “ easy, breezy, beautiful “ emblazoned across his graduation cap. James dad taught him how to braid hair and I guess he liked it and started doing hair for people. Until one day one of his best friends were late to an appointment and asked him to do it. He had never done makeup before because he was more experienced with hair. He decided to do it and said “ if it turns out bad don’t tag me in the picture “, it ended out turning out good and soon enough James had people requesting to get their makeup done. He practiced on other people before he started practicing on himself. He self taught himself everything from, techniques to blending and more.
Major Leagues / Later Life
James became the first coverboy for covergirl, because of his yearbook picture retakes and how good they turned out. After that he got invited to go on Ellen. They mainly talked him being the first coverboy. James has over 10 million subscribers on Youtube and more than 8 million followers on instagram. James Charles net worth is more than $4 million! James is also very tall, he is 5’9, but he wishes he was maybe 5’8 or 5’7 because he wants his boyfriend to be taller than him. His dating life has not been easy, people usually take advantage or are fake. He used the dating app tinder and a lot of people faked it so they could seem cool and post it on Twitter for likes and retweets. James has won 3 awards! Teen Choice Awards ( Choice Web Star: Fashion/Beauty ), Shorty Award For Breakout Youtuber, and last People’s Choice Award for Favorite Beauty Influencer. James has met a lot of famous people like, Katy Perry, Zendaya, Emma Chamberlain, Ethan & Grayson Dolan, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and David Dobrik. Is also very popular for being in a friend group with Emma Chamberlain & The Dolan Twins ( Grayson & Ethan Dolan ). They are known as the “ Sister Squad “. They are very entertaining and very popular, they get millions of views per video. He recently came out with a pallet and almost everyone seems to be loving it. Each eyeshadow has a meaning and a name. He has some for his mom, dad, brother, close friends, & words he usually says. There has been some people complaining about it not coming off but he says that, that’s because their pressed pigment, he said that before he released the pallet to let everyone know.
Conclusion
I chose James Charles because I look up to him and all the things he’s accomplished and how hard working he is. He is also a big dream chaser and I admire that. I also admire his makeup looks that he does, they truly end up looking beautiful and very detailed. He works very hard on all of his makeup looks and works hard on everything he does to make it look the best, with that being said, he is very hard working. He’s very funny and inspiring, he never fails to make me laugh with every videos he’s ever posted, they are so inspiring for me to continue what i’m doing. From James I learned to keep going and don’t listen to the people who aren’t supporting you. James Charles is truly an inspiration to me.
