Men have failed, let women take over

I agree with the statement “Men have failed, let Women take over”. Men and women are two most complex animals on the planet. On the surface level the difference between them can be seen just that one gives birth and one doesn’t. But the difference runs deep through. The evolution process for both men and women has been different. Men have been evolved to be more aggressive and dominating whereas women have been evolved to be more subtle and caring. Furthermore, women have a thoughtful approach to life and career. Women are the world’s most successful multi-taskers, as they manage both outside and inside world very efficiently. On the other hand, men are more impatient and corrupt. These traits of men have brought the world to many lows. There were many wars fought from the medieval times to the present world because of some men’s ego. For instance, there was World War 2, which was initiated by Adolf Hitler just because he had the destructive idea of having a country with only one pure race. There are communal riots between Hindus and Muslims just because some men found their culture and views superior to others. Therefore, men need to let women take over in very field like politics, business, and social participation. When we talk about politics especially in India, men have always let the country down. Is it their lack of governance or widespread corruption?

Women’s participation in this arena is lacking and very much needed. For instance, if there were sufficient women in the parliament then women rights would have taken center stage. Then the atrocities against the women would have been on the lower side. Women’s leadership in politics is equally needed in the international arena. For example, Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, where there is no women leadership, need some female leaders to understand the plight of women. There are many success stories of leadership by women but they are few and far between. For example, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, has been reelected for the 3rd consecutive term. She was primarily responsible for taking the European Union out of financial crisis when she held the EU together by helping Greece and Spain balance their economies. Another strong example is Aung San Suu Ki, a democratic pioneer in Myanmar, who was under house arrest for 15 years for speaking against the military regime. She fought for people’s rights and is helping to bring democracy back to Myanmar.

We need strong female leadership not only in India, but also around the world. In the business world, too, men have not been able to achieve what they could have achieved. They often failed on ethical grounds. They are involved in unethical practices like insider trading, profiteering, cartelization, and environment pollution to name a few. We need more female leaders because women do things differently. They bring diverse views in a male-dominated world. Women are better communicators than men that are they are better listeners, which is very important for handling employees and customers. Moreover, women are more patient, which allows them to make more rational decisions; men tend to get excited and make irrational decisions. Furthermore, women are more ethically compliant than men. They are more concerned with fair treatment and the rights of employees. Women are better at controlling their emotions in tough situations and have better understanding of things, as they are more practical than men.

For example Chanda Kochhar, M.D. of ICICI Bank, has transformed the bank into one of the most profitable in India, as well as one of the most active in corporate social responsibility activities. Other examples are Sheryl Sandberg, COO, Facebook, and Marissa Mayer, President & CEO, Yahoo. Both are at top most managerial positions and have brought tremendous value to their respective companies. Another great example in the Indian context is Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, founder of Biocon. She is a rare success story in Indian business, as she started her own business in an environment tough for women. Therefore, if women given a chance would achieve what could not have been achieved. Conventionally, it is believed that women donate less to charity than men because they favor financial security more. This has been proven wrong. When it comes to social participation, women are more active than men. They are more philanthropic than men because they show more empathy towards other people. Women are more concerned with the well-being of people who are in need. On average, women spend more time participating in charitable activities than men. One classic example is Mother Teresa, Nobel peace prize recipient, who shifted to India in her youth and saw the plight of underprivileged people. She vowed to serve them throughout her life.

Another example is of Malala Yousafzai, a fifteen-year-old girl from Pakistan, who was shot by Taliban for standing against their oppressive policies against women. She survived to tell her story, and is now spreading her message of gender equality across the globe. Melinda Gates, co-founder, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has done significant philanthropic work around the world along with her husband, especially in the field of HIV/AIDS. Therefore, this proves that women are more charitable than men. To sum up, men have failed and failed deeply in all spheres of life. It may be politics, business, social participation, and science. It is high time that men now realize true potential of women. It is time for men to equally involve women in every field. It is women’s turn to do something better with this world. There are some women in very field who are better than men but they are very few in number. Motivation is the biggest thing that will encourage women to break out of their restraints and prove their actual worth. We men should motivate women at our homes to go out. This is the only way our society can really be equal and fair. To bring about this radical change is very tough because are society has been working like this for centuries. But the world needs this change, and is ready for it. So, all men should now rest and let women take the driver’s seat.
