As parents, we strive to do the best for our children. We will allocate any resource to ensure that they succeed and accomplish their different milestones appropriately. I pose the argument that Montessori educational curriculum offers a superior advantage when comes to a child’s early development. Many people will enroll their children in the traditional educational approach because that is what is readily available. I simply want to enlighten people with the benefits that this program offers. Where parents struggle is the location drought of these programs including the cost of these programs.
I argue that with proper research and some well-placed resources you will set your child up for a lifetime of success. The Montessori approach is unique because The Montessori approach to education is sensory and child-centered, meaning that children learn at their own rate through the manipulation of materials created by Dr. Maria Montessori to help them internalize concepts rather than just learn facts (Manner). This is such a unique approach compared to the standardized approach which places the expectation that the child adheres to a set of learning objectives. Also, the Montessori method has shown to yield higher scores in math and reading when compared to the dozens of a traditional approach (public sector). Also, the Montessori individual approach not only produces better interpersonal relationships when compared to the social structures of the conventional educational program but also yield better long-term academic standings when compared to the public sector counterpart. (Miller).
Montessori method centers around identifying developmental stages containing the sensitive period of development. Allowing students to learn at their own pace, by having this ability the student’s performance increased their ability to learn. Montessori materials are thoughtfully prepared and organized to meet the students desire to learn.
This methods test scores were not the only categories that the teachers took into concertation while implementing this program, but encouraging positive attitudes towards their environment, peers and self-perfection. The teacher support created task orientated goals for each student for personal growth and academically. “The result of classroom environment is geared towards a sensory-based and hands-on material to help understand the concept rather than just learning facts.”( Manner) “Efforts to examine and compare Montessori and public schools for the future of education reflected on problem-solving and group interactions.
The Montessori student had a sense of deeper ownership and developed a more personal positive attitude toward school.” (Manner) “The LIFE program was generally obtained to giving students more input into their life. Although the data collection was unclear, the student’s attitudes were found difficult to assess due to variables, age, assignment, ethnicity, gender, and teaching styles.” (Manner)
The affected area was based on the relationship between student and peers as well as student and teachers. The philosophy of Montessori has created for educational purposes as well as the philosophy of life. Whereas traditional education emphasized on dispensing the information with assessments from the teacher. All schools are bound to be different, based on different philosophies while reflecting on personal school values. Comparing traditional public schools to Montessori method education is the comparison both schools developed the involvement of knowledge, but Montessori increased the goal to generate around life scenarios.
Comparing the Montessori systems, academically it is a magnet school option, after the “No Child Left Behind” act that emphasized on the individual child and accountability in academic achievement. In the curriculum delivery system to provider learning different ways and forms to the standardized test. (Ryniker) Examining the relationship between public and Montessori the education subject score in comparison were similar scored but Montessori had an increasingly higher scores following in years. The effects were ideal for the education practiced method and social standing. They practiced academic achievements in using the interested of the children showing a wide benefit of wide range learning including respect and peace during the education process.
Due to the focus on the child as an individual, expressing their ideas and personal journey in life. The role of the teach perceived as a coach prepared the environment decreasing the group learning process and introducing the single feature attracted the hope for the child based individual experience. “Teaching the life aspect in learning some public school systems have adopted toward the Montessori as an addition to assessments of academic achievement to be consistent nationally.”( Ryniker) This form is considered the standardized test scores.
Although Montessori implements a higher cost of starting a program it encourages the necessary materials and staffing requirements which include certification from their program for the employing teacher process. Assuring the outcome will outweigh the cost. The classroom academic achievement for the learners will impact the education system not only for the students but the extended educated teachers as well. “Supporting the focus on this method supports, the standardized test score even though the testing preparation is completely different with public school being study test questions prior the actual test, whereas Montessori students are not given the same experience.”( Ryniker)
Overall Montessori is distinctively a hands-on personal environment teaching organized life and social skills some systems will use the Montessori name without implementing the method. The Montessori approach to education instills personal accountability and a sense of belonging. This can be seen by a more profound, productive social relationships as seen by group interactions.
Where the Montessori approach differs from the traditional approach is letting the child come to the learning objective on their own. This instills a more vibrant sense of worth that can be seen reflected in the academic scoring. “Research showed that where the scoring wasn’t different in the kindergarten years but when it came to the 2-3 year academic scores started to show a difference in learning capabilities when compared to that of the traditional approach. By the 9-10th grade years, the academic scores in both math and reading were remarkably higher than that of the children within the traditional academic approach.” (Miller) This kind of data yielded shows that the Montessori approach not only provides your child with a more holistic learning experience it provides a solid foundation in which all academic endeavors are built upon.
In conclusion, where the norm is the traditional academic system I implore you as parents to go above and beyond the norm. When providing your child with Montessori education, you are investing in their future. As discussed above the unique individualized approach allows your child to develop in their own time and way, to not only meet their developmental milestones better but also to have a sense of self-worth instilled as such a young age. The Montessori program will also give your child an academic advantage, children in these programs demonstrated higher test scores not only in the short run but better academic longevity. Montessori program in an investment in your child’s mind, body and soul, it is a fresh break from the monotonous traditional approach.
