No person on this earth knows the future. Not a single person knows how this world will come to an end. Yet the current situation gives us no compelling proof of a bright future. With the majority of people stressing on environmental problems, they tend to forget many matters of immediate concern. One of the many threats to the earth is violence. It is ironical that humanity is the greatest hazard to itself. We use the new technology for the purpose of mass destruction. But we should remember that with great power comes greater responsibility. Warfare has become so common that people have become oblivious to it.
The most common but the most dangerous of them are the nuclear weapons. An important question that every concerned individual should ask is: Do these weapons make a country and its citizens more secure? The answer to this question is that they do not. Terrorism marks the extent of human nature. It is the height to which a person in his hatred could slaughter innocents. There have been innumerable terrorist attacks since time immemorial. But again it does benefit to none. The only thing violence does is tension amongst society, perpetual despair and creates a world not living in peace but in pieces.
Albert Einstein truly said, “I know not with what weapons world war III will be fought but world war IV will be fought with sticks and stones”. We have limited resources on this earth. So why waste it on such useless causes. Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind. So the moot question is “what we as the future leaders could do for the mother earth? ” Ask a contestant of miss universe pageant about any three things she would promote or work for in the future. The instantaneous answer would undeniably contain “universal peace”. But it is definitely easier said than done.
Anyway if every person in this world begins to think like this then the word “hope” would not exist in the dictionary. The real topic of this writing is how to build a peaceful society. My scope is the planet that we share called Earth. Planet Earth has the potential to be a wonderful world despite what we see going on the planet now. The potential for a “Peaceful” world is real. My vision of a peaceful world consists each person living in harmony with each other. With each person in want of nothing more than he owns. A place where every person trust each other.
In India, a city has homes without the front doors. This shows the degree of trust people have on each other. War is the most cowardly escape from the problems of peace. Therefore in my dream world violence will not be the way out to every problem. People will be prudent and rational. They will respect their fellow beings as well as their mother earth. The first things that we must do as human civilization is accept that fact and cultivate the mode of peace in ourselves. The first person that needs fixing is me, that is how this peaceful world will get built.
A peaceful civilization needs to be fostered by the influential people who others see as “role models”. “What great men do the common men will follow” is what Krishna stated 5,200 year ago, and nothing has changed. According to a survey about 34% children said that if given the power to change the world, they would promote peace and stop violence. This means that even children are conscious of their surroundings and are well aware of the on goings in the world. As students we can take part in plays, participate in quiz competitions and recite elocutions to save this earth.
There was never a good war or a bad peace. In the words of Cicero, “I prefer the most unfair peace to the most righteous war”. So anyway in which we could save our mother earth from the inhuman practices would be for only good. To build a peaceful world all 7,000,000,000 would need there basic needs met and believe in the above written. I wish I could say that I was the originator of these ideas. But these basic ideas are present within every living being. I would like to end by saying that, “there is no way to peace, peace is the way
