The Myers- Brigg type indicator is a self-assessment test done to understand one’s own preference which they choose in several things. This report also discusses one’s work style, preferences at work, communication style and personality type. The personality type is categorized under four pairs of opposite preferences such as extraversion and introversion, sensing and intuition, thinking and feeling, judging and perceiving. According to my answers I was classified as Extraversion Sensing Feeling Judging [ESFJ], which I second that.
ESFJ’s are helpful, compassionate, tactful and orderly, these traits push ESFJ to be very social which will help in building harmony among the team members and tends to help others. They tend to be well organized to attain the end goal, all the said traits very true to my personality type. As ESFJ I do have a downside in perceived conflict, this is a great eye opener for me because being a person who likes to make others comfortable somewhere I tend to overlook the conflict among the team. Henceforth I would work on my downside by initiating an argument among my peers, by doing so I can express my individual ideas and to understand the differences. I believe this will help me to progress towards achieving my goal.
I would say Confidence, Communication and decision making skills are some of the key aspects of a good leader. And I Personally believe that I am good in the above- mentioned skills and EI report acknowledges that by giving me high range scores in Self Regard, Assertiveness, Independence, Reality testing, Impulse Control. No matter how difficult the goal or situation is, firstly I back my strengths to do it and then work on my weakness for improvement. This particular quality has helped me a lot to keep my energies high when I am working as a team facing a critical deadline.
Secondly, I agree with the EI report that I am emotionally independent and will pursue my career and education the way I want and here I am doing my Masters despite my family members worried that I am married and can’t make it there and I am happy that I am kindly replying them by managing the both efficiently. I would like to mention that I have been a Functional Analyst as of now and in near future wanting to become a Techno- Functional Analyst, I have planned to take programming courses in my next semester and I am already preparing myself for that and happy that Reality testing indicator of this report pats my back for my decision-making skill. Be it to my colleagues or friends I never shied away from raising my opinion though they think the other way and one good thing is I make sure relationships are not disrupted by those arguments.
Another realization I got from this assessment and report is that to see every decision as facts and not get carried away by emotions. This test also revealed my drawback which is stress management due to sudden change or unexpected crises I get stressed out. From now onwards I would like to stay calm and composed during a crises situation by minimalizing the pressure that are within my control, also bring in positivity during those times which will help in maintaining harmony in the team.
Authentic leadership questionnaire test is done to understand one’s leadership strength and weakness. This questionnaire evaluates your leadership skills in four dimensions such as self- awareness, transparency, ethical/moral, balanced processing. My overall rating in the ALQ was 3.5, there was a minimal difference between each dimension. The highest rating out of all four dimensions was for balanced processing which I agree upon, I will take in inputs from all directions and analyze them fairly and objectively before making a decision regarding that particular situation. The least was for self-awareness with 3.3 rating, according to the evaluation I use my self-awareness fairly often and I also believe I am aware of my strengths and weakness. I do consider feedbacks from my team to evaluate myself very often this will help me growing as a leader.
