Paris has always been a dream to many people. It is known as the city of love, the city of lights or the city of fashion, but that is how they define Paris.
Through photographs, movies or books, it sounds fancy, it looks pretty but no one really can imagine how wonderful this city could be until they see it with their own eyes.
The Eiffel Tower, the Seine River and others amazing attractions are just a part of the city. Paris is much more than that.
Fortunately,I had an opportunity to witness Paris’ magnificence firsthand and explore every hidden corner of this remarkable city.
As spring came to an end and summer approached, the sun rose in Paris. The clear skies and perfect amount of sunshine created a beautiful golden glow throughout the city. This was the perfect time for travel, as the bitter cold and gloomy rain had disappeared.
Every morning, I start my day in true Parisian fashion with a delightfully flaky croissant that has a soft, buttery center. Additionally, I treat myself to slices of French toast coated in honey that possess the perfect amount of crispiness. However, my morning meal wouldn’t be whole without a delectable cup of creamy cappuccino. Seated by the windows, I appreciate the view of charming flowery balconies, cobblestone roads, and elegant street lamps. The black poles running alongside the sidewalk add an element of old-world charm. As I stroll along the pavement, I observe neatly parked cars despite slightly cramped parking spaces. A sense of excitement completely engulfs me.
Excited to embark on my adventure in Paris, I would often find myself drawn back to my seat by the peaceful sounds and sudden quietness of the early morning. The serene atmosphere truly evoked a feeling of zen. As I strolled through the bustling streets filled with people commuting to work, pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers all made their way towards their respective destinations. Some paused to grab a cup of coffee, but even the aroma of this ordinary beverage felt distinct.
In Paris, the atmosphere was saturated with the comforting and nostalgic scent of roasted coffee, along with the rich and indulgent aroma of freshly baked pastries. Individuals emerged from boulangeries situated on street corners, clutching bags filled with baguettes and pastries. The fragrance of blossoming flowers from nearby gardens contributed an organic essence to the surroundings, while blooming blooms dispersed a delicately sweet odor. Beneath the early morning sun, flower stalls showcased vibrant and lively hues. Even those without shelter on the streets arose and readied themselves for a new day. I seamlessly merged into this bustling crowd, continuing to live out my cherished dream in Paris.
Paris is filled with art and culture, evident in the presence of artists and a romantic atmosphere. One can easily spot a Parisian café on the streets. The word “café” carries a unique meaning, with no equivalent in the English language. These charming cafes feature round tables and delicate chairs on shaded terraces. The streets are alive with dances and musicians playing accordions, cellos, and trumpets for monetary support. It is not uncommon for a man wearing a beret to quickly create a portrait of you.
Souvenir stores were brimming with miniature Eiffel towers, postcards, and “I heart Paris” t-shirts, while the metro station buzzed with crowds. The walls displayed graffiti and paintings. Unlike cities like New York or Tokyo renowned for skyscrapers, Paris possesses a distinct allure. Throughout history, this city has attracted architects and artists to experiment with fresh ideas, resulting in a diverse range of architectural styles. Marveling at Paris’ magnificent historic buildings provides an authentic glimpse into European architecture.
Additionally, Paris was home to numerous grand churches. Despite many churches being burned and destroyed during the French Revolution, fortunately, some managed to survive and undergo renovation. One such example is Notre Dame, which appeared as a colossal work of art. Examining the cathedral from its exterior, I was left awestruck by the intricate and astonishing carvings. Moreover, the interior was remarkably elegant, adorned with vibrant stained glass, painted ceilings, and various other treasures of Gothic architecture.
Paris is expected to be awarded the gold medal for its exceptional preservation. Visitors can easily observe padlocks on the bridges along the Seine River, representing love. Couples were observed holding hands while music filled the air, instantly brightening one’s spirits. The French locals were enchanting with their gentle demeanor and graceful movements. Laughter and conversations intertwined with melodious tunes, forming a harmonious symphony of existence. The highlight of the day took place during sunset, which occurred as late as nine o’clock due to it being summer.
From Pont Alexandre III, a bridge that stretches over the Seine River, one can experience a perfect vantage point to witness twilight in Paris. As the sun began to set, a celestial radiance emerged in the sky. With the arrival of darkness, hues of yellow and orange spread across the sky, decorated with hints of coral and magenta. The clouds took on the appearance of enormous marshmallows suspended within an immense punch bowl, showcasing layers of vibrant colors. Simultaneously, the illuminated Eiffel Tower captivated observers with blinking lights resembling stars engaged in a game of hide and seek. In just moments, I was presented with the awe-inspiring sight of the renowned “City of Lights.”
The beautiful golden lights of the Eiffel Tower, the yellow lights from the streets – everything was incredibly breathtaking. Then, these shimmering lights reflected onto the Seine River, creating a vibrating reflection, as if it was trying to convey a message while the river flowed slowly. I simply stood there and did nothing but gaze at every inch of that mesmerizing sight. Wandering through the streets, Paris during the daytime transformed into a Paris that left me speechless. Every corner, every avenue possessed an enchanting charm.
Although Paris has its lovable qualities, it can become overcrowded during the summer and attract pickpockets. The city’s popularity also leads to long queues. However, my thirty-minute wait for an ice cream cart on the street was worth it when I tried the juicy and tangy strawberry sorbet. It provided a refreshing burst of flavor.
As I took a taste, it rapidly melted in my mouth and a cool, smooth liquid flowed down my throat, rejuvenating me in the hot afternoon. Hence, as long as you are careful with your belongings and fully embrace everything Paris has to offer, pickpockets and long lines will not be problematic. Every beautiful aspect of Paris now remains in my memory, from the charming streets I wandered through to the stunning art that unfolded before me.
