Table of Content

This discussion will be based on Thinking Critically about Ethical Issues, Case 6, and p. The moral nature of a given situation is discussed based on the underlying elements that dictate the conditions under which an individual is expected to operate. I believe that the actions by the husband to jump to safety after realizing that he has zero chance of saving his wife is not immoral. An individual must make a decision based on what they feel is right all the time. The case that is discussed her is very complex and it depends on the level of focus under which an individual is reviewing the case. It is very clear that the train cannot stop and thus the husband is left with no chance. In this case, it is either they die both of them or the husband escapes death. The death of the wife in this case either way the decision chosen by the husband is death.

Morality does not focus on creating a difficult environment under which the life of an individual might be put in danger. It would not have changed anything if the husband who had a chance, Morals involve focus of what is right and wrong based on the circumstances under which the action is taking place. Escaping being hit by a train is not a cowardly move but a thoughtful one. The situation would have been different if the husband would have had the chance to save his wife from being run over by a train. In that particular case, it would have been easier that the actions of the husband were immoral.

Thomas Hobbes’ provide a very detailed understanding on the underlying principles and concepts that are crucial in creating a crucial understanding under which it is possible to have a better environment where people can have limits on how they behave and conduct themselves based on the rules and regulations that are put in place. A society that is well organized means that there are key underlying values that shape the behavior and conduct of people. I completely agree with key statements that he is makes regarding the outcome of a disorganized society where everyone would have sought to achieve their own objectives since there is no organization.

Societies that are in place have been significantly developed under which it is possible to have a higher-level influence on what is expected of everyone. In order to have an organized society there is must be a system in place that outlines the conduct of every member within that particular system to enhance peaceful coexistence. The sentiments that have been made in this case by Hobbes’ are crucial in having an understanding on why there are still social issues despite the fact that there are values which guide human conduct. The situation would have been very worse if these regulations were not in place. I believe that the myth has been in place for a long time based on crucial elements under which it would be possible to understand key elements, which promote individual understanding on crucial issues within different societies. The myth serves the interest of humans.
