The Parable of the Pencil

Read Summary
Summary

The Pencil Maker gave the pencil a message before putting it in the box. There are five things the pencil needs to remember in order to be the best pencil it can be. Firstly, it needs to allow itself to be held in someone’s hand to do great things. Secondly, it will experience painful sharpening but it’s necessary to become better. Thirdly, the pencil can always correct its mistakes. Fourthly, the most important part of the pencil is what’s inside. Lastly, on every surface it’s used on, the pencil must leave its mark. The pencil understood and promised to remember. The lesson can be applied to our lives too – we must remember to allow ourselves to be held by God and others, go through painful experiences to become stronger, correct our mistakes, focus on what’s inside, and leave our marks wherever we go. This will give us a meaningful purpose in life and a close relationship with God.
