Table of Content

In this essay I will be comparing the differences and similarities between Tupac Amaru Shakur and Christopher Wallace also knows as “Biggie” who both are male rappers and reined a pretty short but yet famous mid 90’s career in the music industry. I first would start off with Notorious B. I. G and his differences from Tupac. Biggie is from Brooklyn, NY, he was the only child raised by his mother Voletta Wallace, who lived in the poverty-stricken projects of Brooklyn. Biggie took to his surroundings at young age by transporting and selling drugs and also raising his daughter who he didn’t get to see much.

After an incident that involved him and his friend, Biggie was spared by his friends loyalty to him by taking the fall for felony gun and drug charges; which then drove Biggie to put his all into his music and then caused him to meet his soon to be manger/business partner/best friend/ Sean Comb also knows as Puff Daddy and many various names. Later in the years they both climbed the music industry ladder into forming the well-known record label known as “Bad Boys” which then went on to produce numerous hits such as “Get Money”, “Big Poppa”, “Juicy” and many more.

Like many rap groups in the 90’s “Bad Boys” ended up forming beef/problem with “Death Row”, but with Biggie he had a specific personal beef/problem with one artist from “Death Row”, the artist known Tupac “2Pac” Shakur. The dispute between the both artists got way out of hand for Biggie, which then cause him to try and reach out to Tupac trying to end the uncalled for beef/problem. However his peace treed with Tupac backfired against him causing Biggie to continue on with the beef and soon later caused Tupac and Biggie’s death.

Both artists had a very large fan base and were known as legends in their respective communities. Biggie and Tupac both came from hardship and both looked to the streets as family support. While most people are under the belief that Tupac was from California, Tupac was actually from the same neighborhood as Biggie and were close friends for a number of years before their falling out. Their music both touched many hearts of the younger and middle age generation that was or is going through the hardship they went through.

Their lyrics where both deep talking about life and their struggle being young black males in the projects. Even you had single mothers given their respects to both artists. Both of these rappers died in their early twenties, leaving behind nothing but lyrics and their truth and lives in their music. Tupac Amaru Shakur also known as 2pac was different from Biggie because he was a musician and also an actor. Tupac had sold over 75 million records worldwide as of 2010, making him one of the best selling music artists in the world. Rolling Stone Magazine named him the 86th Greatest Artist of All Time.

Tupac was different from Biggie with music because of how he talked about racism, social problems, and hardship in inner cities violence. Before he became a well know rap artist he was roadie, backup dancer, and MC for the hip-hop group Digital Underground. Another difference was Tupac’s music career really began once he made his first solo album “2Pacalypse now” after that album and many more he then came out with his own rap group called “Thug Life”. Once the group released their only album “Thug Life: Volume 1” Tupac later got introduce to Suge Knight, who then played a big role into Tupac music career.

Later into his career Tupac was then signed to “Death Row” and then that’s when the beef/problem with “Bad Boys” came to be; sadly Tupac was murdered before Biggie, both died in their early twenties. In conclusion both these young male rappers lived lives that some of us would not last a day in and both these young men handle their situation different from each other but both of them had similar reasons to why. In the end both of these young men where very true to their music and their fans, that’s why they are still the most well talked and well respected artists.
