            The Study of Values by Allport is as follows (Carducci 2009):

Theoretical – I can relate to the Theoretical person in the sense that I am eager, as a student, to gain knowledge as it is being provided in school.  Inclination to Theology and Philosophy is one way that I can relate to the Theoretical person, as these fields of study are focused on the discovery of truth.

Economic – As an employee, I can relate to this value because I am concerned with the quality of my work, which is beneficial to the success of the company I am working for.

  I feel that this value is dominant in me because as an individual who earns from being an employee, I regard my job as valuable and useful.

Aesthetic – I feel that this value is most dominant in me because I am very appreciative of the arts.  I also give importance to the beauty of my surroundings as well as my personal health and well-being.


Social – I can relate to the social person because I make it a point to maintain good relationships with my family and friends.  When making decisions, I make sure that I take into consideration their feelings and opinion because I give high importance to the people in my life.

Political – I feel that this value is of least importance to me because I am not one who is inclined to gaining power.  I do not feel the need to influence other people, in the sense that I do not try to persuade them into agreeing to my opinion on certain matters.
Religious – I can relate to the religious person because I dislike war and chaos.  Although I am aware that it is hard to find unity amongst differences in culture, beliefs and political views, I still believe that people across different cultures can find a common ground which may lead the world into becoming united.
Lecture 7-Chapter 8 Question (Schultz 2009)

      The following are based on the Basic Factors of personality according to Raymond Cattell’s 16PF Questionnaire (Carducci 2009):

Warmth – I will most likely score high in this personality factor because I am outgoing and easy-going.  I am very comfortable with being affectionate as well as being the recipient of another person’s affections.
Reasoning – I am more likely to score high because I am a fast-learner, and I find it easy to get high grades in school.
Emotional Stability – I am emotionally reactive when it comes to issues concerning my personal relationships, which is why I will most likely score low in this personality factor.  I am affected by feelings and thus find it hard to stop thinking about problems until they are solved.

Dominance – Although I am quite stubborn at times, I would most likely score low on this factor because I am inclined to avoiding conflict in situations where there is clearly a disagreement between parties involved.  Although I always try to give voice to my opinion, I do not push it in situations which I believe would end up in an argument.

Liveliness – I am most likely to score high in this personality factor because I am very lively, and most people perceive me as the someone who never runs out of energy when it comes to talking and doing the things that I find interesting.

Rule-consciousness – I am rule-conscious because I find it comfortable to strictly abide by the rules.
Social Boldness – I am most likely to score high in this factor because I do not have inhibitions when it comes to social interaction.

Sensitivity – With this factor, I am likely to score high because I am sentimental and refined, as opposed to being rough and tough-minded.
Vigilance – I am likely to score low because I am very trusting when it comes to my relationships.  I do not spend my time dwelling on suspicions.

Abstractedness – I am more inclined to being absorbed in ideas, which is why I am most likely to score high in this factor.
Privateness – I would most likely score low in terms of privateness, as I am always open and unpretentious in dealing with others.

Apprehension – I am most likely to score low because I am a confident and secure person.
Openness to change – I am most likely to score high when it comes to openness to change, because I am not afraid to experiment, and I am a very flexible person.
Self-Reliance – I am most likely to score low because I am group-oriented and I feel that I am comfortable and functional when part of a group than when working on my own.
Perfectionism – I am unlikely to score high because I am more comfortable with being flexible and impulsive.  Although I am rule-conscious, I feel the need to bend the rules when the situation permits it.
Tension – I will most likely score high because I am highly energetic, and I am inclined to spend my time wisely.

Lecture 8-Chapter 9 question (Schultz 2009)
