Technology has a way of impacting our society in a very big way. Nowadays it is almost expected of everyone to have a cell phone or the Internet. If we take a look back a few years ago not everyone had all of these new technologies or devices. There has been a huge increase in the capabilities of our electronic devices. You can surf the web, talk on the phone, and text all at the same time. They have also become extremely easy to use. This easiness has drawn many people, especially teens, to resort to using technology to do things we used to do ourselves.
Everything is getting smarter. 2018 is seeing increasingly savvy innovation and better approaches for appliances, all enclosed by new hues and wraps up. A large portion of the innovation is being connected to kitchen machines. The best kitchen machines in 2018, as indicated by customer audits, is steam, enlistment and convection cooking machines. When it comes to Smart Home, the kitchen is all about connected appliances that not only talk to you, but to each other. One of the most “futuristic” yet timely technologies I came across was this wireless kitchen developed by Michigan-based startup Urbaneer with small spaces in mind. I have been researching wireless charging furniture for a while, but this kitchen design amps up the technology in a practical way. Compatible appliances charge and run right the countertops, in order that those surfaces become a cooktop once required and free counter house the remainder of the time. The smart technology could range from Whirlpool’s Smart Cabrio washing machine, for which you can ask Alexa how much time is left on a cycle, to the Samsung Smart Refrigerator that works with Bixby and contains a smart TV that can play music, find recipes, and much more. One smart kitchen appliance to look out for this year is Frigondas, that seeks to modernize microwaves, it can heat up your food like a regular microwave, but also “blast chill” foods including cooling drinks and quickly freeze fresh food, just in a matter of minutes.
Another upcoming technology trend is Sleep technology. The Zeeq Smart Pillow that states to wake you up at the optimal point of your sleep cycle, Ambi Climate that will adjust your room temperature throughout the night for better sleep relaxation, and Magniflex’s smart bed that stops your snoring at night.
The bathroom also has smart Home trend too. Kohler’s Numi Toilet allows you to not only interact with it via your behind, but also by your voice! You can ask it to “flush”, but if you forget to do so, it will flush anyway. It will also adjust the seat temperature to your preference, let you play music from its speakers and choose the color of surrounding lighting.
Last but not least, home security has some smart security products that caught us off guard, including Blink Video Doorbell that offers two years of battery life and the new Aura motion sensors, which unlike typical sensors, detect movements by monitoring disturbances in wireless signals that circulate through your Smart Home.
My long-term goal is to get a bachelor’s degree in biology and this would assist me in pursuing my vision in the medical career as a doctor. I want to be a doctor because one day I want to be able provide affordable health care to marginalized communities in the United States and third world countries. My passion has always been assisting others and trying to improve their quality of life. Giving back to my community is an important thing to me and I want people to see how wonderful my community is. Volunteering and Interning has led me to develop a strong work ethic and a strong ability to prioritize, manage my time, and make sure that I always get my work done on time. I’m always willing to go above and beyond to do the better job. I am committed to working hard in school and looking for opportunities that could help me make my goals a reality. This scholarship would help me achieve my career goals by reducing my stress over the lack of money and giving me the opportunity to focus on a well-rounded college experience. I am very motivated to complete my schooling, and the relief that a scholarship would provide me would allow me more time and energy to excel and focus on my studies.
