Essay 1 Drunk driving should be prevented at all costs. There are multiple reasons why no one should get behind the wheel while being intoxicated.
I strongly wish everyone would be more serious about drunk driving because of many reasons. You are not only putting yourself in danger but you are also putting other innocent people in danger. According to the “National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,” twenty-eight people die everyday in America in result of drunk driving car crashes. Sometimes the one who was the drunk driver gets to walk away from the accident and the innocent ones in the other vehicle and or the same one lose their lives.
I am a victim of drunk driving.
I lost my boyfriend and almost lost my life because of it. I also had major injuries. We had just left a party and we were on the way home and my boyfriend was speeding on a gravel road and lost control. We were both ejected but he didn’t survive. I learned many of lessons from this tragedy including how dangerous it was for me to be riding and for him to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
His family and I have to live with the pain of his loss everyday and I wouldn’t want anyone else to have to deal with this. So the prevention of drunk driving is what I strive to make people realize is very, very important.
When you are young you think you’re invincible. That is why most drunk driving is in the ages of 21-25 years old, according to drunk driving statics on MADD.org. You never anticipate anything horrible to happen to yourself, and your friends and family. You always hear of tragedies and people getting arrested for DWI’s but you never think anything like that could happen to you…until it is too late.
I want to make people realize they don’t need to wait until its too late, as I did, people need to prevent it ahead of time. It would make for way less tragedies and way less arrests.
